MILWAUKEE — Arike Ogunbowale scored 32 points and Brianna Turner added 20 as second-ranked Notre Dame rolled to an 87-63 victory over No. 19 Marquette on Saturday.The Irish (11-1) gained control by outscoring Marquette 25-11 in the second quarter for a 42-29 lead at the half.Ogunbowale, a three-time Wisconsin high school player of the year, returned to her hometown and hit 13 of 21 shots and all five free-throw attempts.Natisha Hiedeman had 23 points and Erika Davenport added 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Golden Eagles (9-3), who lost at Notre Dame 91-85 in overtime last season.Jessica Shepard added 15 points and 18 rebounds for the Irish, who shot 59.7 percent, making 37 of 62 shots.

Milwaukee Public Schools investigates allegation regarding staff member at Reagan HS

MILWAUKEE -- A Milwaukee Public Schools spokesman confirmed for FOX6 News Sunday, Dec. 16 the district is investigating an allegation regarding a staff member at Ronald Reagan High School.The MPS spokesman said that staff member was placed on leave, pending the outcome of the investigation.He said the district cannot release any additional information due to the ongoing investigation.The district did not identify the staff member.

Regents OK millions in UW-Madison tuition hikes

MADISON — University of Wisconsin System regents are signing off on millions of dollars of tuition increases for out-of-state and graduate students at UW-Madison over the next two academic years.The plan calls for raising non-resident undergraduate tuition $810 and $828 to generate about $16 million in additional revenue.Increases in the university's professional schools include raising School of Business tuition by nearly 10 percent annually, generating about $1.7 million; raising tuition for resident medical doctor students by 5 percent annually and non-resident students by 8 percent annually; and increasing tuition for law students by $2,000 annually, generating about $1.2 million per year.The regents approved the increases unanimously without any discussion at a meeting Friday on the UW-La Crosse campus.

MILWAUKEE -- The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee issued a safety alert after an armed robbery recently took place at Hartford and Cramer.The alert -- issued on Sunday, Dec. 2 -- indicates the crime happened shortly before 10 p.m. The victim was approached by a gray minivan with six black males.

Howard scores 45, Marquette beats No. 12 K-State 83-71

MILWAUKEE — Markus Howard kept attacking the bucket and getting to the foul line against one of the best defensive teams in the country to set Marquette records.Imagine how good he might have been if he hadn't been recovering from food poisoning.Howard had 45 points, a Marquette record for a regulation game, and went a school-best 19 of 21 from the free-throw line, his aggressive play setting the tone for Marquette in an 83-71 victory over No. 12 Kansas State on Saturday.Sacar Anim added 16 points for the Golden Eagles (6-2), who handed the Wildcats their first loss of the season."We knew they were going to be physical, so we wanted to attack them first," Anim said.Howard led the charge despite missing two days of practice because of illness.

MPS students post picture of unity; 'I'm still overwhelmed by the emotion of it'
