Reporter

FOX6 Milwaukee is looking for a deeply curious, hard news, team-oriented nightside journalist with a drive to dig, break big stories and innovate every day on-air, online and streaming. Responsibilities

Developing sources, breaking stories, and finding new ways to reach new audiences across platforms is what it’s all about. You must be able to demonstrate how you aggressively pursue relevant stories and develop exclusive content. You must also prioritize digital/social media content. Successful candidates will have strong LIVE reporting skills and the ability to communicate complex stories in creative, digestible ways. You must work cohesively with streaming, digital and linear producers, photojournalists, editors and news managers to ensure a unified and powerful storytelling approach across all platforms. Strong candidates are the types of people who not only strive to be the lead story and break the mold every night; they also do so while prioritizing team interest over self-interest.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field with a minimum of 3 years’ reporting experience in a commercial television news operation. You must have a passion for storytelling and cometo our editorial meetings with great story ideas and a vision of how to deliver them on television, digital and streaming. You’ll need to exhibit strong on-air skills both in the field and in studio with the ability to ad-lib. Proficiency with newsroom computers and related software required. Executive Producer of Streaming

Master the Metrics: Analyze audience data to identify trends, optimize programming decisions, and maximize viewership.

What you’ll need:

Previous experience leading streaming content teams or producing content specifically for streaming is a plus.
Proficiency with live-streaming technology, the ability to teach and train a team, and a demonstrated willingness to learn and experiment with the technology.
A deep understanding of the news and current events, and a passion for educating audiences.
Proven leadership skills and the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
Strong news judgment and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
A strong understanding of social media platforms and digital analytics.

Photojournalist

FOX6 is looking to hire a creative, visual storyteller who enjoys collaborating with Newsroom staff to get the latest news into the hands of viewers. You must thrive in a fast-paced environment and be willing to pivot from one assignment to the next. Responsibilities

Not an office job! As a FOX6 Photojournalist, your days will be anything but monotonous. You’ll be in the field chasing breaking news and turning stories on a tight deadline. You’ll be tasked with covering local events or even going on your own to capture compelling weather video. You’ll flex your storytelling muscles with longform pieces that you are passionate about. We will provide the equipment so you can capture the best sequences, natural sounds and moments to produce compelling stories that our viewers need to know.

Qualifications

Vocational/Technical School degree strongly preferred
At least two years of Television News shooting experience, as well as technical knowledge of non-linear editing software, preferably Edius, and photo equipment
Must be physically able to lift, carry and handle 30 to 50 pounds of camera gear, and deal with the realities of a Wisconsin winter or summer
Position requires driving
Drone license preferred
Ability to handle strict deadlines

Editor

FOX6 Milwaukee is looking for a Video Editor who is passionate about making visual stories come to life. FOX6 produces more local news that anyone in the market and we need a creative editor to showcase the stories that need to be told. Responsibilities

You will be tasked with editing daily news and sports stories for live broadcasts, our station website and all current and future media platforms. You will brainstorm with producers, reporters and photographers to make the news pop on screen and provide impactful content to our audience across all platforms. We have high journalistic standards of fairness, and you must maintain that standard in every story you edit.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must have experience using standard broadcast non-linear editing, preferably Edius. 1 year of editing experience preferred but not required. You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. You must be able to meet deadlines and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. The ability to edit with speed, efficiency and creatively while producing high quality content is required. You must be able to demonstrate good judgement and decision-making skills. You must have a proven track record of dependability and the ability to work a variety of schedules to meet company needs. A two- or four-year college degree is preferred.

Sales Assistant

FOX6 Milwaukee is a dynamic and innovative media organization committed to delivering top-notch content across multiple platforms. We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented team player to join our Sales Team and contribute to our continued success. As a Sales Assistant you will play a crucial role in supporting the FOX6 Sales Team to increase sales across all platforms. Your primary focus will be day-to-day interaction with FOX Station Sales (FSS), the company’s national sales organization. You will collaborate with various facets of the sales department, including digital sales, traffic and research.

Responsibilities

Enter advertising orders/revisions in the Wide Orbit Traffic system
Confirm sales orders in Wide Orbit Connect
Communicate with the national salespeople regarding all preempted commercials and make-good offers, staying on-top-of of unresolved issues through completion
Provide weekly exact commercial advertising times to salespeople or advertisers
Work with Finance department on invoicing, discrepancy and collection issues
Notify salespeople and clients of any late runs due to programming overruns, late breaking news, etc.
Support Sales Managers by working with creative services on commercial production projects
Support local Account Executives with order entry, proposals, and reporting
Oversee paid programming by working directly with FSS to ensure station has all paid time periods sold with program titles and CIA checks
Work with traffic department on advertising copy traffic
