Officer Mensah remains on paid suspension but is fighting to stay on the police force, while some, including the family of 17-year-old Alvin Cole, are calling for his firing. It's up to the PFC to decide.

The police chief of Wauwatosa that has seen protests since an officer was cleared of criminal wrongdoing in the fatal shooting of a Black teenager said he sees no reason why the officer should be fired.

The groups of protesters primarily gathered near Wauwatosa City Hall and Washington Park following the district attorney's decision not to charge the officer who shot and killed 17-year-old Alvin Cole. 

As shards of glass sit scattered on the inside, community members rallied outside of Molly Sullivan's business.

Prior to Saturday's curfew, a peace vigil was held outside city hall. That demonstration continued past the curfew but remained peaceful.

The Wauwatosa Police Department on Saturday released video, including body camera footage, of law enforcement activity pertaining to protests on Oct. 9.

Tear gas, pepper balls and paint balls were used against a group of protesters after some threw rocks and bottles at law enforcement in Wauwatosa Friday night.

The arrests came as demonstrators gathered in Wauwatosa to protest prosecutors’ decision not to charge Officer Joseph Mensah in the 17-year-old's death. Mensah, who is Black, shot Cole after a foot chase outside a Wauwatosa mall in February.

She hopes to attend college and to get her private pilot's license in hopes of becoming a commercial pilot.

The demonstrations have come following the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office decision that no criminal charges will be filed against Wauwatosa Police Office Joseph Mensah after he fatally shot 17-year-old Alvin Cole in February.

As Wauwatosa works to heal after days of unrest, a local business wanted to spread some kindness. 

The second night of protests, police said 24 people were arrested. Alvin Cole's mother and sisters were arrested during protests.

Citations for violating an emergency order were issued to 19 people and police say additional charges may be issued after a comprehensive review of videos, reports, and other evidence.

The second night of protests in Wauwatosa ended with at least a dozen arrests.
