MPS reduces virtual learning period

Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) has announced virtual learning for schools will be reduced to five days after a 3 percent COVID-19 positivity rate has been reached within a 14-day window.

During a public hearing Thursday, Feb. 10, Milwaukee Public Schools leaders will review the district's COVID policy which currently involves moving a school to virtual learning if 3% or more of the population tests positive.

Milwaukee police say a dispute over Facebook led to a fight between two females and gunfire outside of Rufus King High School on Tuesday evening, Feb. 1. Five females were wounded by that gunfire – and an adult male is being sought.
