2 hurt in fire at home in Sussex; cause under investigation

SUSSEX -- Two people were hurt in a fire at a home in Sussex Monday, October 16th.Fire officials say it happened around 7:30 a.m. at a home near Aster Drive and Aster Court.Of the two people hurt, one was taken to the hospital and the other was treated at the scene.Officials with the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department are investigating.PHOTO GALLERYMonitor FOX6 News and FOX6Now.com for updates.

Convicted sex offender to be released, live in home near Main and Genesee in Waukesha

WAUKESHA -- A convicted sex offender is set for release, and will live in a home near Main Street and Genesee Street in Waukesha.Police said 25-year-old Brock Brumfield sexually assaulted a 13-year-old female acquaintance who was a runaway, and in a separate instance, sexually assaulted a 14-year-old female acquaintance who was a runaway.According to police, Brumfield plays "the nervous game," where he touches and kisses victims "until they tell him that they fell nervous."Brumfield, who is 5'4" tall and weighs 125 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes.

New Berlin officers praised for saving life of woman trapped in burning car after crash

NEW BERLIN -- Two New Berlin police officers are being hailed heroes for their work saving the life of a woman badly hurt in a crash early Sunday, October 8th.According to a post on the New Berlin Police Department's Facebook page, early Sunday, around 3:00 a.m., Officer Ryan Straus and Officer Kyle Kegley were assigned to drive to the Greendale Police Department to pick up a prisoner.While en route, they came across a crash involving a single vehicle on I-894/I-43 near 84th Street in Greenfield.The vehicle was badly damaged, and the doors wouldn't open.

Brookfield police identify person who died in crash after being pursued by deputies

BROOKFIELD -- Brookfield police released on Wednesday, September 27th the identity of the person who died in a crash near Bluemound and Calhoun following a police pursuit on Sunday, September 24th.Officials say the person who crashed the car is 24-year-old Stephan Ramsey of Milwaukee.Officials say around 11:45 p.m., a Waukesha County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a car for a traffic violation related to excessive speed at Barker and Bluemound Roads.

BROOKFIELD -- Brookfield police are seeking a suspect who escaped an Aldi store after an armed robbery in Brookfield Saturday night, September 16th.According to police, around 8:00 p.m., they were called out to Aldi on Bluemound near Janacek for a report of an armed robbery, possibly in progress.

BROOKFIELD -- Police are looking to find a woman who stole nearly $200 worth of liquor from the Pick 'N Save store located on Capitol Drive near 124th Street in Brookfield.The theft happened Thursday, September 7th around 6:30 p.m.According to police, the suspect took approximately $177.42 worth of liquor without permission and without payment.

"Use of force warranted:" No charges after man shot, killed by 2 Waukesha police officers in June

WAUKESHA -- No charges will be issued after a fatal officer-involved shooting on June 18th in Waukesha, the Waukesha County district attorney announced Thursday, September 7th.Authorities said 64-year-old William Brewster, who was suicidal, was fatally shot by officers when he pointed a gun at them.In announcing his decision that no charges will be filed against the two officers in this case, Waukesha County District Attorney Susan Opper said "the officers were privileged to use deadly force based on their reasonable belief that such force was necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to themselves or others."

Crash involving semi closes all lanes of I-94 WB at Calhoun in Brookfield for 3 hours

BROOKFIELD --  Officials with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation reported early Monday, September 4th a crash involving  a semi and a passenger vehicle closed all lanes of I-94 westbound at Calhoun Road in Brookfield.It happened around 12:30 a.m.When authorities arrived on scene, they found there was complete lane blockage, and one vehicle was slightly under the trailer of the semi.The initial investigation indicates the semi and unloaded trailer were traveling eastbound on I-94, at which point the driver became inattentive.
