Latest: Victim identified in Waukesha homicide on Sunset Drive; woman in custody

WAUKESHA -- Waukesha police are investigating a homicide that occurred on West Sunset Drive near Oakdale Drive on Friday, April 6.According to the Waukesha Police Department, a 46-year-old man was shot in the chest and transported to Waukesha Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries and died.

BearCat called in to evacuate bar patrons amid report of suspect making threats with gun

GENESEE DEPOT -- A BearCat had to be used to evacuate bar patrons on Tuesday night, April 3 in Waukesha County.According to the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department, deputies responded to "In Cahoots" bar in the Town of Genesee for a report of a person with a gun.A bartender called 911 to report that a patron left the bar after drinking -- returning a short time later -- threatening people with a gun.The suspect then left the bar again, and went to an upstairs apartment.A perimeter was established, and the BearCat was brought in to help evacuate people from the bar.Deputies attempted to make contact with the suspect with negative results, Eventually, the suspect exited the apartment and was taken into custody -- transported to the Waukesha County Jail without further incident.

Brookfield officers cleared in deadly December shooting

WAUKESHA COUNTY -- Two Brookfield officers are cleared of wrongdoing after a man takes his own life during a traffic stop.Officials say the 52-year-old man was stopped last December in the parking lot of the Quality Inn on Bluemound.He had a warrant out for his arrest.

Police: Man killed by train in Waukesha after dog pulled him onto tracks

WAUKESHA, Wis.  — Waukesha police said Tuesday, March 27 a man who was killed by a train on Monday was pulled onto the railroad tracks by his dog.Authorities said Alois Hinkes, 73, was walking his dog along the tracks in Waukesha Monday morning when the approaching train scared the dog -- causing it to pull the man onto the tracks.

Illegal strip search: Waukesha County deputy charged after retrieving marijuana from inmate at jail

WAUKESHA COUNTY -- A Waukesha County sheriff's deputy is facing a misdemeanor charge, accused of conducting an illegal strip search at the Waukesha County Jail.It happened on Nov. 19, 2017 -- and the charge is misdemeanor "illegal strip search," filed against Deputy Jeffrey Haren.The victim is an inmate, who is currently 23 years old.The Walworth County Sheriff's Office led the investigation in this case.According to a criminal complaint, in December of 2017, a Walworth County sheriff's captain spoke with Deputy Haren regarding Haren's interactions with the inmate in the booking room at the Waukesha County Jail on Nov. 19, 2017 around 3 a.m.Deputy Haren stated that the inmate and two other males had been arrested and were entering the booking room when Haren smelled an odor of marijuana.

Menomonee Falls police search for man involved in Kwik Trip gas theft

MENOMONEE FALLS -- Menomonee Falls police are asking for the public's help to identify a man who filled up with gas at a Kwik Trip and left without paying.According to police, it happened on Thursday, March 15 shortly after 5:30 p.m.Police say the man, described as a white male, pumped $30.01 worth of gas into a gray, four-door Pontiac G6 with an unknown dealership plate attached.
