Police: 87-year-old woman hurt chasing after purse snatcher in Pick 'N Save parking lot

MOUNT PLEASANT -- An 87-year-old woman tried to chase down a suspect who snatched her purse in the parking lot of a Pick 'N Save in Mount Pleasant.It happened shortly after 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16th at the Pick 'N Save on South Green Bay Road near Durand Avenue.According to Mount Pleasant police, the elderly woman made a purchase inside the store and as she was walking to her car, a suspect -- who witnesses described as a black male wearing dark clothing -- came up and forcefully grabbed her purse.The man ran and got into a red, mid-sized SUV (possibly a GMC Acadia) that was also parked in the lot.

48-year-old Racine man arrested for 8th OWI after running red light

MOUNT PLEASANT -- A 48-year-old man from Racine was arrested Sunday night, Feb. 11 for OWI, 8th offense during a traffic stop.According to police, officers conducted a traffic stop around 11:20 p.m. at STH 20 (Washington Ave.) and Oakes Road for a vehicle that ran through a red light.During the traffic stop, it was determined that the driver was impaired and officers attempted to conduct standardized field sobriety tests -- but he refused.

CALEDONIA -- A man, 55, died at the hospital on Wednesday, Jan. 10 after a crash Tuesday, Jan. 9 on Highway 38/Highway H, Caledonia police said Thursday.Police said it happened around 11:30 a.m.The man was taken to the hospital from the scene via Flight for Life -- where he died as a result of his injuries.He's been identified as Kee Ko Yee.Caledonia police are investigating, along with the Wisconsin State Patrol.

CALEDONIA -- Caledonia police said on Christmas Eve, Sunday, December 24th two people were arrested in connection with the theft of a Salvation Army red kettle -- stolen from a Walgreens store on December 21st near 4 Mile and Douglas.Police said a 34-year-old woman and her 35-year-old boyfriend were arrested, and admitted to taking the kettle "to support their heroin habit."The kettle was recovered, and the man and woman were taken to the Racine County Jail.Police said the arrests were thanks to "tips from several individuals" who viewed the suspect's photo.Kenosha police assisted with the arrest.
