Kenosha police investigate homicide: Body found in advanced stage of decomposition at home near park

KENOSHA -- Kenosha police say the death of a man discovered inside a home on Tuesday, July 26th near Eichelman Park is being investigated as a homicide.The man has been identified as 51-year-old Michael Gayan.Police say an autopsy was performed on Gayan's body on Wednesday, and the results of the autopsy indicated the manner of death was a homicide.Police say at the time of the discovery, the body was in an advanced state of decomposition -- making identification difficult.The investigation is ongoing.Anyone who may have information related to this case is asked to contact the Kenosha Police Department Detective Bureau at (262) 605-5203 or Kenosha CrimeStoppers at (262) 656-7333.

Vehicle fire on I-41/94 at WIS 50 near Kenosha draws large law enforcement response

KENOSHA COUNTY -- A vehicle fire has drawn a large response from law enforcement on I-41/I-94 in Kenosha County Wednesday night, July 27th.Officials with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation say the three right lanes of I-41/I-94 NB at WIS 50 in Kenosha.Officials with the Pleasant Prairie Police Department tell FOX6 News it is not believed there are any injuries in connection with this incident.

KENOSHA -- Kenosha police say a suspect is in custody after a man was shot and wounded Monday afternoon, July 18th near 60th Street and 20th Avenue.It happened around 1:15 p.m.Police say the victim, a 29-year-old Kenosha man, was taken to the hospital for treatment of what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.A 22-year-old Kenosha man is in custody.Police are investigating.

Town of Salem Public Safety officer killed in crash on Highway 50 in Kenosha County

Competency exam ordered for woman in charged, accused of stabbing 12-year-old girl in Kenosha

KENOSHA -- Kenosha police say a 12-year-old girl was the victim of a stabbing that happened on Sunday, July 10th.It happened around 11:30 a.m. near 39th Avenue and 88th Street.Police say the 12-year-old girl was stabbed twice in the back with a large kitchen knife inside a home by a suspect who then fled the scene.Officers located the suspect, still armed with the knife, on the property of Jeffery Elementary School.

68-year-old Twin Lakes man killed in motorcycle crash

KENOSHA COUNTY -- Kenosha County Sheriff's officials say a 68-year-old Twin Lakes man was killed Saturday evening, July 9th in a motorcycle crash.It happened shortly before 8:00 p.m. on Bassett Road, near 320th Avenue in Twin Lakes.The motorcyclist has been identified by officials as John Leisen.

Kenosha police: Shots fired during home invasion on 19th Avenue

KENOSHA -- Kenosha police are investigating an armed home invasion that took place on 19th Avenue Saturday morning, July 2nd.The call to police came in shortly before 5:00 a.m.According to police, several people, including children, were inside the home at the time of the incident.Officials say a few shots were fired, but no one was injured.Police tell us they are not aware of any property taken in the home invasion.Authorities recovered evidence at the scene -- including a magazine for a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson pistol.It is believed three suspects are responsible for the home invasion but the circumstances are being looked at as suspicious -- as the occupants of the home say they do not know why the suspects broke in.Officials say the suspects made entry to both the upper and lower parts of the duplex.Police believe drugs play a factor in this home invasion.No other details have been released.

Kenosha police: We Energies workers find body in car near 18th Avenue & 62nd Street

KENOSHA -- Kenosha police tell FOX6 News We Energies workers on Sunday morning, June 19th located a body in a vehicle in the area of 18th Avenue and 62nd Street.Police say the We Energies employees were working on a repair in the area when they spotted the body of an adult male, identified as 45-year-old Muhammed Bell, in a vehicle shortly before 11:00 a.m.Police were dispatched to the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.Investigators are awaiting toxicology results to determine a cause and manner of death.

Sheriff's officials warn residents after possible mountain lion/cougar sighting in Wheatland

WHEATLAND -- Officials with the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department are alerting residents about a possible mountain lion/cougar sighting Tuesday morning, June 21st.According to Sheriff's officials, around 10:30 a.m., two Wheatland residents living in the 35600 block of 52nd Street (near 352nd Avenue) reported hearing and then seeing a cougar in the back wood line area of a home there.Both residents reported that they observed what they believe was a large cat consistent with a North American mountain lion/cougar come out of the wood line.The residents reported that the large cat appeared to be looking around and walking back and forth before retreating back into the woods.One of the residents said several chickens have gone missing from her home -- but was unsure if this is related to the alleged cougar sighting.Deputies responded to the area, along with a Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources game warden.

KENOSHA -- Kenosha police say a five-year-old boy was taken to the hospital by Flight for Life as a precaution Thursday, June 2nd after that child became trapped under a car that struck him.It happened in the area of 55th Street and 49th Avenue -- near Curtis Strange School.Police were called out to that area just before 2:00 p.m. for a report of a child under a car.
