Kenosha police: Taser used on man after shots fired into home near 54th Street, 16th Avenue

KENOSHA -- Kenosha police say a Taser had to be used on a man after shots were fired into a home near 54th Street and 16th Avenue on Monday morning, March 28th.The shots were fired around 6:00 a.m.Officers were called out to the scene around 1:00 p.m., when neighbors found bullet holes in the home.Police say a man had barricaded himself in a van in a driveway next to the home that the shots were fired into, and he refused to come out of the van.Tactical officers responded to the scene and got the man out of the van.

Kenosha's "Dream Playground" temporarily closed months after opening due to issues with floor

KENOSHA -- Kenosha's "Dream Playground," which opened in October 2015, has been temporarily closed for repairs due to what officials are calling a "premature wearing" of the rubberized surface at the playground.Officials announced the closure on Friday, March 18th.City officials say the surface was tested for fall-related safety, and flaws were found in the rubberized surface that could endanger the safety of children in the event of a fall, and impact a child's head.The playground, located in Petzke Park, at 2900 14th Avenue (near 14th Avenue and 31st Street) has been closed pending a solution.The specially-designed floor is made of poured-in-place rubber, and, based on fall heights, officials say specific standards need to be met.The 15,000-square-foot "Dream Playground" has been a popular destination since it opened in October as the city's first fully accessible playground.City officials remain proud of the community effort in raising support and constructing the playground -- an effort that involved more than 3,000 volunteers.City officials have noted that the community participation with the build in August and September 2015 had nothing to do with the floor's performance.The goal is to address the flooring issue and reopen the playground as soon as possible.CLICK HERE to learn more about Kenosha's Dream Playground.

KENOSHA -- Kenosha County District Attorney Robert Zapf says the use of deadly force by Kenosha police officer Pablo Torres in the death of 26-year-old Aaron Siler was necessary to stop the threat that Torres "believed" to be present.Siler was shot and killed by Officer Torres, an 18-year veteran of the Kenosha Police Department on March 14, 2015.

KENOSHA -- A 52-year-old man was taken to the hospital after authorities believe he ingested a controlled substance and resisted arrest Friday evening, February 19th.The incident took place near 28th Avenue and 41st Street in Kenosha.According to the Kenosha Police Department, officers attempted to take the man into custody on an outstanding felony Department of Corrections warrant.

KENOSHA --  The Kenosha Police Department is investigating the death of a five-month-old girl.The Kenosha Fire Department responded to a home near 28th and Washington around 6:15 a.m. on Wednesday, February 17th.The infant could not be resuscitated and was pronounced dead at the scene.The incident remains under investigation and an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.Kenosha police say this is the fourth infant death this month.Police say a seven-month-old baby boy was found unresponsive by his mother in an apartment near 45th Street and 36th Avenue in Kenosha on February 2nd.

29-year-old Kenosha man arrested; accused of several armed robberies

KENOSHA -- Kenosha police have arrested a man that is believed to be responsible for several armed robberies that occurred in the Kenosha area throughout December, 2015 and January, 2016.According to police, a 29-year-old Kenosha man was taken into custody on Tuesday, January 19th after an armed robbery occurred in Mount Pleasant involving a suspect brandishing a knife.Kenosha has recently experienced a rash of robberies similar to the robbery in Mount Pleasant.Friday, the 29-year-old Kenosha man was charged with five counts of armed robbery and five counts of bail jumping.He is believed to be responsible for the following robberies in the City of Kenosha:
