Evacuation at Harborside Academy, Reuther Central H.S. in Kenosha after threat found
KENOSHA -- A threat found at Harborside Academy on Wednesday, April 13th forced an evacuation of Harborside and Reuther Central High School, which share the same building.Kenosha Unified School District officials say the threat was found in a girls bathroom at Harborside Academy -- a charter school serving grades 6-12.Reuther High School, serving grades 9-12 and Harborside share the same building.Around 12:30 p.m., students were evacuated from the building, and Kenosha police were called.Students were outside for just under an hour, while police performed a sweep of the building.

KENOSHA -- Kenosha police say a 38-year-old man is being held in jail, accused of stabbing another man on Saturday, April 2nd.The stabbing happened around 7:30 p.m. on 61st Street near 24th Avenue.Police located a 52-year-old Kenosha man suffering from a stab wound, and he was taken to the hospital in Kenosha, and later flown to Froedtert Hospital.The 38-year-old suspect was taken into custody and was being held in jail on a charge of first degree recklessly endangering safety.

Kenosha's "Dream Playground" temporarily closed months after opening due to issues with floor
KENOSHA -- Kenosha's "Dream Playground," which opened in October 2015, has been temporarily closed for repairs due to what officials are calling a "premature wearing" of the rubberized surface at the playground.Officials announced the closure on Friday, March 18th.City officials say the surface was tested for fall-related safety, and flaws were found in the rubberized surface that could endanger the safety of children in the event of a fall, and impact a child's head.The playground, located in Petzke Park, at 2900 14th Avenue (near 14th Avenue and 31st Street) has been closed pending a solution.The specially-designed floor is made of poured-in-place rubber, and, based on fall heights, officials say specific standards need to be met.The 15,000-square-foot "Dream Playground" has been a popular destination since it opened in October as the city's first fully accessible playground.City officials remain proud of the community effort in raising support and constructing the playground -- an effort that involved more than 3,000 volunteers.City officials have noted that the community participation with the build in August and September 2015 had nothing to do with the floor's performance.The goal is to address the flooring issue and reopen the playground as soon as possible.CLICK HERE to learn more about Kenosha's Dream Playground.

KENOSHA -- A 52-year-old man was taken to the hospital after authorities believe he ingested a controlled substance and resisted arrest Friday evening, February 19th.The incident took place near 28th Avenue and 41st Street in Kenosha.According to the Kenosha Police Department, officers attempted to take the man into custody on an outstanding felony Department of Corrections warrant.
Kenosha police investigate death of five-month-old girl, fourth infant death in February
KENOSHA -- The Kenosha Police Department is investigating the death of a five-month-old girl.The Kenosha Fire Department responded to a home near 28th and Washington around 6:15 a.m. on Wednesday, February 17th.The infant could not be resuscitated and was pronounced dead at the scene.The incident remains under investigation and an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.Kenosha police say this is the fourth infant death this month.Police say a seven-month-old baby boy was found unresponsive by his mother in an apartment near 45th Street and 36th Avenue in Kenosha on February 2nd.
