Person of interest in custody in shooting death of LZ Jolly Jr.

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police tell FOX6 News a person of interest is in custody in connection to the shooting death of LZ Jolly Jr.Jolly was shot and killed Thursday night, May 23, outside of Warren's Lounge near 25th and Hopkins.

MPD: No gun-related homicides for 1st time in 7 years over Memorial Day weekend

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police on Tuesday, May 28 were proud to announce that over the 2019 Memorial Day weekend, the City of Milwaukee had no gun-related homicides, and six non-fatal shootings.According to Milwaukee police, over the previous 14 years, the city averaged 2.1 homicides and 9.7 non-fatal shootings over the holiday weekend.2019 was the first year Milwaukee has not had a gun-related homicide over the Memorial Day weekend in the past seven years.

MILWAUKEE -- A 13-year-old girl was treated for injuries following a shooting outside of her home near 77th and Casper late Sunday, May 26 -- grazed by a bullet while in her own bedroom.Milwaukee police said it appeared people in vehicles along 76th Street were possibly shooting at each other when a bullet entered the teenager's bedroom around 10:30 p.m.The 13-year-old was grazed by a bullet and conveyed to a nearby hospital, where she was treated and released.FOX6 News spoke with her briefly outside her home.
