Common Council OKs renaming MFD HQ in honor of Alonzo Robinson

The Milwaukee Common Council voted unanimously on Tuesday, Feb. 9 to rename the Milwaukee Fire Department Headquarters at 7th and Wells in honor of Alonzo Robinson, Wisconsin's first African American architect.

The Milwaukee Fire Department announced they have appointed its first African American female as Deputy Chief.

Leon Todd named Exec. Director of Milwaukee Fire and Police Commission

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett appointed Leon Todd on Tuesday, Nov. 24 as Executive Director of the city's Fire and Police Commission.

It's unclear at this time where or how the fire started, but officials said it badly damaged two neighboring duplexes and part of a third building which houses apartments and a bar.?

The Milwaukee Fire Department said the three-alarm blaze began at and engulfed one home. The fire extended east to two others.
