Panther pride: UWM fans get excited over new 1,200-pound mascot statue

MILWAUKEE -- University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and alumni unveiled a 1,200-pound statue to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Panther mascot.The unveiling took place after the annual Panther Prowl 5K run on Saturday, October 10th.The bronze statue, located in front of Enderis Hall, is 6-feet tall, 12-feet long and designed by UWM alum, Tom Queoff.

Regents approve lifting UW-Madison cap on out-of-state undergrads

MADISON — The University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents has approved lifting the cap on out-of-state undergraduates at UW-Madison.The system currently caps the number of out-of-state undergraduates at 27.5 percent of the total undergraduate population at each campus.

Two sisters from South Florida, one a UW-Milwaukee grad, killed in wrong-way crash on I-95

POMPANO BEACH, Florida — Two sisters from South Florida died in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 95 as they were returning home from Disney World.The Florida Highway Patrol says a Jeep Cherokee traveling the wrong way near Fort Pierce Saturday, September 26th struck the sisters' Toyota Matrix head-on.The vehicles exploded into a fireball that was captured on cellphone video.Officials say 24-year-old Alexis Musumeci and her 23-year-old sister Brittany were declared dead at the scene.
