Bank robbery suspect arrested by Marquette University police officers

MILWAUKEE -- Officers with the Marquette University Police Department arrested a bank robbery suspect within 20 minutes of his alleged crime on Monday morning, April 18th.

Officials say the male subject entered the U.S. Bank branch located inside the Alumni Memorial Union around 9:30 a.m. He said he had a weapon and demanded cash. The suspect then fled the scene on foot and was apprehended by MUPD officers at the Walgreens store located near 16th and Wisconsin at approximately 9:50 a.m. Officials say the suspect was not affiliated with Marquette.

 

No students or staff members were physically injured during this incident, according to a statement released by MUPD. Officials also indicate that MUPD sent a text message alert to students, faculty and staff, then followed up with a university-wide email with additional details.
