Maxwell Anderson trial, Sade Robinson killed: Tuesday, June 3

Investigators found the clothes Maxwell Anderson wore on his date with Sade Robinson. But they never found all the clothing Anderson is seen wearing after prosecutors say he torched her car.

This information came up on Tuesday, June 3, on the sixth day of Anderson's trial in Milwaukee.

What they're saying:

Investigators searched Anderson's home on Milwaukee's south side at least three times – finding the shirt Anderson is seen wearing late on April 1 when he and Sade Robinson left Duke's on Water.

"To your knowledge, is that the last time ever that Sade Robinson is seen in public, on video?" asked prosecutor Ian Vance-Curzan.

"Yes," answered Milwaukee Police Det. Jack Puschnig.

Anderson got into Robinson's car, and she drove off toward Anderson's home.

Investigators later searched Anderson's house and found a fresh load of laundry with a Carhartt shirt as well as the red plaid jacket in his living room. But the clothing Anderson is seen wearing boarding a bus near where Robinson's car was found torched on April 2, 2024.

"To your knowledge, has camouflage backpack ever been found?" asked Milwaukee County Assistant District Attorney Megan Newport.

"It has not," said Det. Kayla Bjerke of the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.

"To your knowledge, have those shoes that are pictured in exhibit 466 been found?" Newport asked.

"No," Bjerke answered.

A sheriff's detective said a gun and more than 50 knives were found and collected as evidence. The state crime lab tested any possible stain for blood or DNA, but found no connection to Robinson.

Prosecutors said Robinson was killed at some point after driving to Anderson's house; her body was dismembered.

Milwaukee police helped in the case and were canvassing Anderson's neighborhood and searching garbage carts. A detective spotted some clothing but did not think anything of it, only to realize days later that it matched the jacket Anderson was seen wearing on the bus.

"To be clear, there is no video of Max Anderson putting that sweatshirt in a trash can?" asked defense attorney Anthony Cotton.

"That's correct," answered Milwaukee Police Det. Vincent Lopez.

Police did recover more surveillance video of Robinson's car leaving Anderson's house early on April 2, 2024 – and what prosecutors say is Anderson returning.

Prosecutors said during opening statements that Anderson's DNA was recovered from the hoodie as well as Robinson's. A detective testified a photo recovered from Anderson's phone shows Robinson on his couch.

Det. Kayla Bjerke of the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office took the stand next and testified at length about the search at the Anderson home.

Robinson killed, dismembered

The backstory:

Anderson is charged with first-degree intentional homicide, mutilating a corpse, hiding a corpse and arson of property other than a building. Prosecutors said Anderson and Robinson showed up at a Menomonee Valley bar on April 1, 2024 – the night she was last seen or heard from. The next day, Robinson's burned-out car was found near 30th and Lisbon in Milwaukee. Surveillance photos show a man investigators believe is Anderson walking away from the area, and who was later seen on a bus heading back towards his home on the city's south side.

Anderson had planned to kill Robinson weeks before her death, according to a statement from a "confidential informant" noted in court filings FOX6 News obtained. A search warrant also revealed prosecutors believe Anderson tried to cover up Robinson's death with a text message.
