WASHINGTON COUNTY -- The Washington County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating a vehicle theft that occurred Tuesday, October 18th near the Allenton Post Office.Officials say the vehicle was stolen shortly before 3 p.m. while the owner was inside the post office.The vehicle, a 2004 silver Toyota Camry with a license plate of 837-PYY , was parked on the street in front of the post office, with the keys in the ignition.Witnesses reported the suspect, who was seen in the area immediately prior to the theft, is a younger white male wearing a dark hoodie.The vehicle has yet to be recovered.Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 262-335-4411.

WASHINGTON COUNTY -- The Washington County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the June, 2016 fraud investigation which resulted in the transfer of nearly 88,000 from a Washington County bank account to other criminal bank accounts.On June 16th, Washington County authorities say a wire transfer of $87,760 was authorized to criminal bank accounts.According to the news release on September 23rd, the sheriff's office worked closely with Washington County's primary commercial banking institution to initiate a fraud recall on a portion of the funds that remained in the illegitimate accounts.As a result of the efforts, $32,163.76 was returned to Washington County on September 15th.The criminal investigation into this case remains active.

WASHINGTON COUNTY -- One person has died following a single-vehicle crash that took place on I-41 just south of County Highway FD/Pioneer Road in the Village of Richfield.The crash occurred on Friday, September 16th.According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, preliminary investigation indicates an SUV, operated by a 35-year-old City of Hartford man, was traveling southbound on I-41 in the right lane, when it rapidly approached other southbound vehicles which were reducing speed due to a construction-related lane closure.Officials say an apparent attempt to avoid striking a vehicle, the SUV swerved, lost control of the vehicle, and entered a grassy area between I-41 southbound and an on-ramp which caused the vehicle to roll several times, ejecting the driver.The 35-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene by the Washington County Medical Examiner's Office.
