Number of guns caught at Wisconsin airports increased in 2019, mirrors national trend

KC-135 Stratotanker with 128th Air Refueling Wing experiences engine trouble during training mission

MILWAUKEE -- A KC-135 Stratotanker from the 128th Air Refueling Wing in Milwaukee experienced trouble with one of its four engines during a training mission on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 19.Officials with the 128th say the issue arose shortly before 1 p.m. -- when an indicator light came on, noting that one of the engines had an oil overheating issue.

Southwest to end direct flights from Milwaukee to New York in April 2020

MILWAUKEE -- Southwest Airlines confirms to FOX6 News that effective April 14, 2020, the airline will no longer be flying nonstop from Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport to New York.

 MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport on Monday, Oct. 21 introduced a new campaign series featuring animated videos that aim to educate local travelers about the importance of starting their flights from MKE.According to a press release, results of the airport's recent economic impact study show that if Milwaukeeans choose MKE over a Chicago airport, they could add new flights, hundreds of new jobs and more than $200 million annually to Wisconsin's economy.

2-seat private plane runs into grass at end of runway at Mitchell International Airport

MILWAUKEE -- Officials with Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport say a two-seat private plane landed "long" on a runway -- and ran into the grass at the end of that runway.There were no injuries as a result of this incident -- and it is not clear when the plane will be removed from the grassy area.Airport officials say this incident had little impact on airport operations.
