MPD: Officer returns fire on suspect who discharged gun during pursuit; no one hurt

MILWAUKEE -- One person was arrested in an incident in which shots were fired by that suspect and a Milwaukee police officer on Sunday afternoon, May 20.It happened near 36th and Meinecke shortly before 1 p.m.Police said officers were in pursuit of a reckless vehicle when the driver of that vehicle exited, fled on foot and discharged a firearm at officers.An officer returned fire, and a man was taken into custody.

MILWAUKEE -- A West Allis man, fired from the Milwaukee Police Department, accused of driving drunk and then striking two vehicles in West Allis last November has been sentenced.Brian Petersen, 47, of West Allis, on Thursday, May 17, pleaded guilty to one count of OWI, third offense, and one count of hit-and-run -- both misdemeanor charges.He was then sentenced to serve five months in the House of Correction, with credit for 39 days time served -- with Huber release, and 18 months probation.
