MILWAUKEE -- Rob Jeter will not return as the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers' head men's basketball coach, according to UW-Milwaukee Director of Athletics Amanda Braun.A statement posted on the MKEPanthers.com website on Thursday, March 17th reads as follows:

Admirals will likely move from BMO Harris Bradley Center to UWM Panther Arena

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Admirals will likely have a new home next season in downtown Milwaukee.The team's deal to move its home games to the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena from the BMO Harris Bradley Center is scheduled to be voted on on Wednesday morning, March 16th.Admirals owner Harris Turer is expected to keep his pledge to invest in upgrading the team's new venue under a lease the team negotiated with the Wisconsin Center District.The Admirals are looking for new home ice because they won't be playing in the new Bucks arena that will replace the Bradley Center in 2018.The Admirals will hold a press conference on Wednesday, March 16 at 1:00 p.m. in the lobby of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panther Arena to make a major announcement regarding a possible move by the team to the arena.Among those in attendance at the press conference will be Admirals Owner/CEO Harris Turer, Admirals President Jon Greenberg, Admirals General Manager/Nashville Predators Assistant GM Paul Fenton, Wisconsin Center District Executive Director Russ Staerkel and WCD Board Chair Scott Neitzel.CLICK HERE for more on this story via the Milwaukee Business Journal.

Race for SCOWIS: Rebecca Bradley, JoAnne Kloppenburg to meet for debate at MU

MILWAUKEE — Rebecca Bradley and JoAnne Kloppenburg are launching the first TV ads of their general election race for the Wisconsin Supreme Court, and they'll meet for a debate on Tuesday evening, March 15th in Milwaukee.Bradley, who was appointed to the court last fall to finish the late Patrick Crooks' term, played up endorsements from judges and law enforcement.

Marquette University men's basketball team not selected for the NIT

MILWAUKEE -- The Marquette University men's basketball team is done for the season.The team announced on Selection Sunday, March 13th it was not selected for the NIT, and will not take part in any other post-season tournaments.Marquette University ended the season with a 20-13 record, losing to Xavier in the Big East Conference Championship.

MADISON — A group of about two dozen students has interrupted a University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents meeting to demand the panel improve how minority students are treated.The students stood up during a discussion on tenure changes to complain about how they believe minority students are mistreated on UW campuses.

Wisconsin removes 'interim' tag, names Greg Gard coach to replace Bo Ryan

MADISON — Wisconsin has named Greg Gard the permanent replacement for retired basketball coach Bo Ryan.The university's Board of Regents approved Gard's contract on Monday night following his successful audition as the interim coach.Terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed by the university.Wisconsin is 13-6 since Gard took over following Ryan's abrupt retirement after a game on Dec. 15.

Green Bay beats Milwaukee Panthers 70-61 in Horizon tournament

DETROIT  — Carrington Love scored 16 points including four in a 12-0 run that lifted fourth-seeded Green Bay to a 70-61 victory over No. 5 seed Milwaukee in the second round of the Horizon League tournament on Sunday, March 6th.The Phoenix (21-12) will take on top-seeded Valparaiso on Monday in the semifinals.Trailing by six after Milwaukee's Jordan Johnson scored five consecutive points, the Phoenix used 3-pointers to start and end the run that put Green Bay ahead 58-52 with four minutes to go.Matt Tiby hit a 3-pointer to get the Panthers (20-13) within three with 2:10 left but Green Bay the scored the next six points on free throws to lead by nine with 49 seconds remaining.Green Bay led 31-25 at halftime before giving up the lead with 11 minutes left.Jordan Fouse scored 15 points with eight rebounds for the Phoenix.

MILWAUKEE — Luke Fischer scored a career-high 23 points, including the go-ahead free throws with less than two seconds left, and Marquette edged Georgetown 88-87 Tuesday night, March 1st.Georgetown trailed much of the game, but made a 14-6 run late in the second half and Isaac Copeland's 3-pointer with 3:53 put the Hoyas up one, 78-77.D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera's jumper with eight seconds left put Georgetown up 87-86, but his foul with 1.2 seconds to go put Fischer on the line and he made both.

Jordan Johnson set school record with 15 assists as UWM Panthers beat UIC 98-85

MILWAUKEE — JJ Panoske made four 3-pointers and scored 20 points, Jordan Johnson set a school record with 15 assists, and Milwaukee defeated Illinois-Chicago 98-85 on Sunday, February 28th in a regular-season finale.As the fifth seed, Milwaukee (19-12, 10-8) will play No. 8 Northern Kentucky and No. 10 UIC (5-24, 3-15) will face No. 3 Wright State in the Horizon League tournament Saturday.Led by Johnson, who scored 11 points, the Panthers had 25 assists on 30 field goals.
