MILWAUKEE -- Wednesday, August 24th was "move-in day" for freshman on the Marquette University campus.
Parents and students loaded carts and spent the day hauling supplies into the residence halls. The elevators and hallways are always crowded on move-in day, but Marquette President Michael Lovell said this year might have been the craziest yet!
"We're so excited to welcome this class. It's one of our larger ones. It's about eight percent larger than last year," Lovell said.
Most of the new students are enrolled in MU's College of Arts & Sciences, but Lovell said this year, they've also seen a spike in business majors.
With it being the first time many of these students are living away from home, Lovell said the best thing to do is to get involved on campus.
"The best piece of advice I give to freshman coming in is get connected and be involved. Don't be afraid to get yourself out there," Lovell said.
Campus events are planned throughout this week and weekend, leading up to Monday, August 29th, when classes begin.
