MENOMONEE FALLS -- Menomonee Falls police are investigating a break-in that happened at Menomonee Falls High School overnight.On Tuesday, May 31st, Menomonee Falls High School Principal Corey Golla sent a letter to parents explaining that someone used a key to access all rooms -- including those with private materials in them.School officials believe this was only a prank, but senior students were warned about having their graduate privileges taken away if they were involved, or if the pranks continue.Below is the letter from Principal Golla:

Great Lakes group gives preliminary approval of Waukesha's water request

WAUKESHA — Representatives of Great Lakes states and provinces have given preliminary approval to a precedent-setting request by a Wisconsin city to draw water from Lake Michigan.City officials want to take water from Lake Michigan and return the treated waste water to the lake.The regional group, which includes eight states and two Canadian provinces, agreed that the water diversion application by the City of Waukesha complies with a Great Lakes protection compact if certain conditions are met, including an average limit of 8.2 million gallons a day.Minnesota abstained from voting during a conference call Wednesday, May 18th.The DNR says Waukesha's current system, which draws water from an aquifer, isn't sustainable and vulnerable to contamination.Waukesha Mayor Shawn Reilly issued the following statement on this matter:

Suspected reckless driver taken to the hospital via Flight for Life after rear-ending semi

WAUKESHA -- Waukesha police say a suspected reckless driver was hurt when he crashed his vehicle into a semi in Waukesha on Tuesday, May 17th.Police say shortly before noon, 911 calls came in regarding a reckless driver headed into Waukesha on Pewaukee Road.Shortly thereafter, police learned there had been a crash near North and Madison.Police say the vehicle observed by the original callers was traveling at a high rate of speed when it rear-ended a semi.

Waukesha police encourage use of "Safe Exchange Zone" after Craigslist seller robbed at gunpoint

WAUKESHA -- Waukesha police say a man selling an iPhone on Craigslist was robbed by the buyer on Tuesday, May 10th -- and that has police reminding folks that there is a "Safe Exchange Zone" set up for these types of transactions at the Waukesha Police Department.The armed robbery happened around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.Police say a 911 call came in from the victim, who indicated he was robbed at gunpoint on Haymarket Road near School Drive after driving to the area to meet a buyer for his iPhone he had posted for sale on Craigslist.When the victim arrived at the location, police say the suspect grabbed the phone away and pointed a handgun at the victim and then fled on foot.Officers responded to the scene along with the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department's K-9 unit and searched for the suspect.Based on the information given by the victim, officers responded to a residence nearby and located the juvenile suspect inside.The juvenile was arrested and confessed to the robbery and is believed to be responsible for additional thefts and robberies in the neighborhood linked to Craigslist ads, police said.Police are encouraging people to use the "Safe Exchange Zone" at the Waukesha Police Departments and other departments in southeastern Wisconsin to prevent this type of crime from occurring.These "Safe Exchange Zones" are under 24-hour video surveillance.

Student in custody after threat made to Kettle Moraine High School

WAUKESHA COUNTY -- Officials with the Kettle Moraine School District and Waukesha County Sheriff's Department said Thursday, May 5th an individual is in custody after a threat was made to the Kettle Moraine High School building indicating students and staff would be harmed on a specific future date.School district officials said the threat was written on a bathroom wall.Sheriff's officials were able to identify the individual believed responsible for the threat -- and that person was taken into custody.The suspect is a student, who has been suspended, and will go through "established school district disciplinary procedures."Safety sweeps were being conducted at Kettle Moraine High School Thursday -- and evening activities inside the building were cancelled for Thursday evening.Patricia Deklotz, the Kettle Moraine School District superintendent, said this in a statement:
