RACINE (WITI) -- Two suspects accused in an armed robbery and shooting that occurred on Monday night, December 2nd in Racine have now been charged in the case.The suspects are identified as 16-year-old Damario Redmond of Racine, and 21-year-old Maurice Smith of Waterford.Redmond is charged with one count of attempted first degree intentional homicide, use of a dangerous weapon, one count of armed robbery, one count of attempted armed robbery, one count of possession of a firearm (adjudged delinquent) and one count of first degree recklessly endangering safety (use of a dangerous weapon).Racine police say due to the severity of the charges against him, Redmond will be seen in adult court.A criminal complaint against Redmond indicates police were dispatched to Sixteenth Street Foods in Racine for a shooting just after 3:00 p.m. on Monday, December 2nd.Officers made contact with the store's owner, who reported the store had been robbed by two black males wearing hooded sweatshirts, masks and black gloves.The complaint indicates Redmond was armed with a handgun.The complaint says Redmond ordered a 40-year-old white man to the floor and pointed the gun at the store owner's face, and began demanding money.

RACINE (WITI) -- 64-year-old Albert Stinson of Racine has been charged in connection with his fourth OWI offense in five years.Stinson faces the following charges: OWI (fourth offense in five years), operating a motor vehicle while revoked (OWI related) and failure to install ignition interlock device.Stinson was pulled over on Sunday, November 17th after an officer saw him swerving, according to a criminal complaint int he case.Stinson told an officer he had not been drinking, and said he was coming from a friend's house where he had watched a football game, according to the complaint.An officer noticed Stinson was driving while revoked, and did not have an ignition interlock device installed.

RACINE (WITI) -- The Racine Zoo hosted its annual Boo at the Zoo event on Saturday, October 26th featuring the thrills of Halloween mixed with wonders of the animal kingdom.During the past 15 year, Boo at the Zoo has evolved from frightening to family focused fun, including trick-or-treating, pumpkin painting and a "Jungle Jay" look-a-like contest."Like so many of our special events, it really is an excuse for people who ordinarily might not come to the zoo, to come," said President and CEO "Jungle Jay" Christie.The event also gives visitors a chance to get up close and personal with some of the critters."We do have some animals that people might be, you know, scared about because they don't know about them," said Maggie Terasewicz, Curator of Conservation Education.Terasewicz says part of Boo at the Zoo is helping people get familiar with animals, and possibly getting over their fears."They can come ask us questions and see them up close, that they're really not that scary or they have a reason for being how they are," explained Terasewicz.The Racine Zoo teamed up with the Blood Center of Wisconsin during October to provide a two for one admission to anyone who donated blood at select locations.

RACINE (WITI) -- On 10/16/13, members of the Racine Police Department assisted agents from the Wisconsin Department of Revenue – Alcohol Tobacco Enforcement Unit, (ATEU) in conducting inspections of 14 businesses that hold an alcohol or tobacco license.The operation was a direct result of numerous complaints the ATEU has received regarding licensed businesses within the City of Racine selling untaxed alcohol and tobacco products as well as K2.Further complaints included selling alcohol after hours and to underage persons.The focus of the operation was to investigate, detect, and confiscate any untaxed cigarettes and tobacco products located within the businesses, and confirm alcohol was purchased legally.The following items were confiscated and retained by the ATEU:
