Racine man charged after allegedly failing to pay hotel bills
RACINE (WITI) -- A Racine man has been charged in connection with fraud of an inkeeper -- and faces two misdemeanor charges.
41-year-old Donovan Williams of Racine faces one count of fraud on an innkeeper - non-payment (less than $2,500) and misdemeanor bail jumping.
A criminal complaint in the case says an officer was dispatched to the Marriott Hotel in the 7100 block of Washington Avenue in the Village of Mount Pleasant on March 10th.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the front desk manager, who indicated that locked up in his room, Williams had been in the hotel since March 3rd -- and had an outstanding bill of $881.17. According to the complaint, Williams had not made good on the bill.
Williams has a pending case of fraud of an innkeeper - non-payment under $2,500 -- filed in November of 2013.
In that case, he faces three misdemeanor charges.
He has a plea/sentencing hearing in that case scheduled for June 19th.
A condition of his bond in that case is that Williams not engage in any further criminal activity.
A pre-trial conference in the new case is scheduled for April 3rd.
