Police: 1 in custody after removing ATM from bank in West Allis

WEST ALLIS -- One person was taken into custody early Wednesday morning, June 21st after removing an ATM from a bank in West Allis.Shortly after 3:00 a.m. officers responded to the area of 108th Street and Arthur Avenue for an alarm coming from a bank ATM.Investigation revealed that two suspects removed the ATM from the bank building and attempted to remove the machine from the parking lot.The ATM was recovered and one of the suspects was taken into custody after a lengthy search.Monitor FOX6 News and FOX6Now.com for updates on this developing story.

Racine Fire Department issues warning after fire inspector imposter reported in West Allis

RACINE -- After West Allis police reported Monday, June 19th a resident indicated someone came to his door and identified himself as a West Allis firefighter -- offering to conduct a fireplace inspection, officials with the Racine Fire Department are warning their residents.While Racine fire officials noted in a release Tuesday, June 20th there have been no similar incidents in Racine, they said they want to make sure residents are aware that Racine firefighters do not conduct inspections on single-family or two-family homes.Additionally, Racine firefighters always wear uniforms when conducting inspections and they have fire department identification on them.

West Allis police: Woman in custody, accused of stabbing boyfriend near 84th and Greenfield

Alcohol suspected in fatal motorcycle vs. SUV crash in West Allis; 32-year-old man in custody

WEST ALLIS -- An 18-year-old motorcyclist has died following a crash that took place near South 60th and Mitchell Streets in West Allis early Wednesday, June 14th.According to West Allis police, around 12:20 a.m., an SUV traveling southbound on 60th, made a left hand turn, failing to yield the right-of-way to the motorcycle traveling northbound, causing the crash.The driver of the SUV, a 32-year-old West Allis man, was taken into custody on suspicion of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and operating after revocation causing death.The crash remains under investigation by the West Allis Police Department traffic investigators.

West Allis police warn of man pretending to be fire inspector with WAFD

WEST ALLIS -- West Allis police are warning of a man pretending to be a fire inspector -- posing as a member of the West Allis Fire Department.According to police, a resident reported a man showed up to his home, claiming to be a member of the fire department, looking to perform a "fireplace inspection."The resident called the police, who verified that the man was not a member of the WAFD, and police came to the resident’s home to take a statement.Police say if you are approached by somebody claiming to be a member of the fire department, you should ask for identification and note that all fire department employees would be in uniform and would be able to produce an identification card if requested.

Family of man who died in West Allis can't understand why he'd commit an armed robbery

WEST ALLIS -- The family of a man who died after an officer-involved shooting in West Allis on Saturday, May 13th is speaking out, as Oak Creek police on Tuesday, May 16th positively identified him.Police said 37-year-old Maxwell Holt of Milwaukee allegedly committed an armed robbery at a George Webb restaurant in West Allis on Saturday.

Police: Next-of-kin notification not yet made after officer-involved shooting in West Allis

WEST ALLIS -- Oak Creek police said Monday, May 15th the man killed in an officer-involved shooting that stemmed from an armed robbery and subsequent traffic stop has been identified, but next-of-kin have not been notified, so his name is not being released at this point.
