Shooting death of Fox Lake officer hits home for Wauwatosa PD: "Unfortunately, we've had some experience with that"

FOX LAKE, Illinois/WAUWATOSA, Wisconsin -- Investigators combed neighborhoods north of Chicago on Tuesday, September 1st in a massive manhunt for three suspects accused of shooting and killing a police officer.

WAUWATOSA -- Wauwatosa police said Monday, August 24th, after taking a look at surveillance video from the Speedway gas station near 68th and North Avenue, they haven't been able to determine where a metal pipe that prompted a Bomb Squad response on Sunday came from.The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office's Bomb Squad was called out to the Speedway gas station on Sunday morning for a report of a suspicious object.It was reported that a pipe with two end caps was seen sitting next to a gas pump at the gas station.After observing the object, Wauwatosa police called the Bomb Squad to the scene.The nearby intersection was blocked off, and those who live in the area were asked to stay inside their homes.Bomb Squad officials used a robotic bomb disposal unit which carefully carried the pipe to a sandbagged area in the street -- and then worked to shoot off one of the end caps on the pipe so officials could take a look inside.

Woman arrested after allegedly displaying handgun during road rage dispute near 124th & Capitol

WAUWATOSA -- Wauwatosa police say a woman was arrested after allegedly displaying a firearm during a road rage incident that began near 124th Street and Capitol Drive in Wauwatosa.Police were first notified about this incident shortly before 7:00 p.m.Police say there was a dispute regarding how the woman was driving through a parking lot in the area.

Bound over for trial: Accused of harboring/aiding Najee Harmon, Stephanie Kane pleads not guilty

MILWAUKEE COUNTY -- 54-year-old Stephanie Kane, charged with harboring or aiding a felon -- accused of hiding 21-year-old Najee Harmon after he allegedly shot and injured a Wauwatosa detective near 60th and Good Hope Road is set to stand trial in the case against her.Kane was in court for her preliminary hearing on Monday, August 10th.Kane was set to be in court last Thursday, July 30th for her preliminary hearing, but she failed to show up to court, so a bench warrant was issued against her, and her $350 cash bond was ordered to be forfeited.Kane did appear in court on Monday, and the court found probable cause for her to stand trial in this case.

Police investigating fatal officer-involved shooting in Wauwatosa

WAUWATOSA -- Wauwatosa police on Thursday night, July 16 were on the scene of an officer-involved shooting near Glencoe Circle and Bluemound Road.Wauwatosa police tell FOX6 News a male suspect was shot and killed.Officers responded to the scene at 9:20 p.m.Neighbors tell FOX6 News they heard a series of gunshots, between six and seven, and then came the massive police presence.There were no injuries to any officers.Wauwatosa police say there are no suspects at large, and there is no threat to the public.The Wisconsin Department of Justice was on scene Thursday night, as was the Milwaukee Police Department.It appears MPD will take the lead in this investigation.
