Wauwatosa City Council signs off on Milwaukee County's bus "rapid transit" proposal

WAUWATOSA -- The Wauwatosa City Council on Tuesday, June 21st signed off on Milwaukee County's plan to implement a bus rapid transit system.A spokeswoman with the Milwaukee County Executive's Office told FOX6 News the vote was 105.The council's Transportation Committee passed it earlier in June.The rapid transit system would run between downtown Milwaukee and the Regional Medical Center.It involves bus-only lanes that Milwaukee County officials say will get people to their destinations more quickly.The proposed route would run from Milwaukee's Lakefront to the area near Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin.Half of the $40 million price-tag would come from the feds.The next step involves a vote by the City of Milwaukee's Public Works Committee on this proposal.

Cute! Wauwatosa police officer pulls seven ducklings from storm sewer

WAUWATOSA -- Wauwatosa police on their Facebook page on Tuesday, May 24th shared photos of a police officer rescuing seven ducklings.The baby ducks apparently wandered across the street and got stuck in a storm sewer.They were found on the Menomonee River Parkway at Harmonee Avenue around 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 23rd.All seven of the ducklings were rescued by Officer Olson -- and they were reunited with their mother.

Repairs underway after train derailed near 124th and Capitol Drive in Wauwatosa

Theft of ammunition from home in Wauwatosa leads to discovery of possible plot to kill officers

WAUWATOSA -- FOX6 News has learned a potential plot to kill police officers is being investigated, and Wauwatosa police say it is linked to a 15-year-old boy.A police affidavit obtained by FOX6 News on Wednesday, March 2nd reveals this plan was seemingly a lot more than just talk.The 15-year-old boy is being held at the Milwaukee County juvenile detention center as the investigation continues, and police work to determine whether there were any co-conspirators.FOX6 News is not identifying the boy because he is a juvenile.According to the affidavit, Wauwatosa police responded to a burglary on February 15th.

WAUWATOSA -- FOX6 News has learned that Governor Scott Walker and his wife, Tonette Walker have accepted an offer on their home.The Wauwatosa home was on the market for 33 days.The three-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath colonial was listed on Realtor.com for $338,000.Details on the offer that was accepted haven't been released.Walker told FOX6 News in late January the money from the sale of his home wouldn't be used to pay his presidential campaign debt."None of the proceeds from that will go to campaign debt.
