Milwaukee police investigating arson on city's north side, suspect arrested

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating a fire that happened Tuesday, April 7 on Wabash Court just west of 76th Street on the city's north side.Police have opened an arson investigation, noting that the fire was intentionally started inside a residence around 2:20 a.m.The American Red Cross, who provided assistance to 18 people affected by the fire, said the fire happened at multi-unit group home.The suspect, a 73-year-old Milwaukee man, sustained non-life threatening injuries in the incident.

MPD: 26-year-old fatally shot near 24th and Capitol

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that happened near 24th and Capitol on Tuesday.Authorities were called to the scene around 5 p.m. The victim in the shooting, a 26-year-old Milwaukee man, later died at the hospital as a result of his injuries.

Have you seen them? MPD seeking suspects in armed robbery near 94th and Silver Spring

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Police Department has asked for the public's help identifying and locating two suspects involved in an armed robbery that happened on the city's north side Sunday, April 5.Police say two men -- one of them armed -- approached a victim around 5:50 p.m. near 94th and Silver Spring, robbed the victim and fled.The first suspect is described as an African-American male, 17-20 years old, 5'7" tall and around 160 pounds with a medium build.

Milwaukee police warn of charges against 'Safer at Home' violators who commit crime

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police on Monday, April 6 warned of charges against violators of Governor Tony Evers' "Safer at Home" order who commit crimes following several violent incidents over the weekend.In a news release, MPD said over the weekend, there was an increase in violent crime, including 9 non-fatal shootings and two homicides."Many of these incidents could have been prevented if the suspect or the victim would have stayed home," MPD said in the release.MPD officials said individuals who are out, who commit crimes will be arrested for violating the governor’s order, along with the crime the individual was initially arrested for.

Milwaukee man fatally shot, 2nd man seriously hurt after argument near Hampton and Teutonia

MILWAUKEE -- Two men were shot, one of them fatally, following an argument Monday, April 6 near Hampton Avenue and Teutonia Avenue.It happened shortly before 4:30 p.m.Police said a 28-year-old man died at the scene.

Milwaukee police called to 4 separate shootings in less than 6 hours

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police officers were on the scene of four separate shootings in less than six hours Sunday night, April 5 and Monday morning, April 6.The first happened around 10:30 p.m. on Townsend Street near Palmer Street.Police said a 27-year-old Milwaukee man suffered a serious gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital for treatment.The second shooting happened less than an hour later, around 11:20 p.m. on 17th Street near Nash Street.Police said a 31-year-old Milwaukee man suffered injuries not believed to be life-threatening, and he was taken to the hospital for treatment.Around 12:45 a.m. Monday, police were on scene near 40th Street and Burleigh Street, where a 21-year-old man suffered injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

Police: Driver arrested after pursuit, crash at 35th and North connected to 2 shootings

MILWAUKEE -- A driver arrested Sunday afternoon, April 5 after a pursuit ended in a crash near 35th Street and North Avenue is connected to two shooting incidents, police said.Police said the pursuit started shortly before 1:45 p.m. when officers spotted a reckless driver.The pursuit went from Milwaukee through Wauwatosa and Brookfield.With the assistance of police in the other jurisdictions and the deployment of stop sticks, the vehicle crashed at 35th and North and the driver was taken into custody.The crash caused damage to a citizen's vehicle, but there were no injuries.

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police have requested the public's help identifying and locating a suspect wanted for a strong-arm robbery that happened around 7 p.m. on March 31.Authorities say the suspect forcefully removed property from a business near 6th and Oklahoma on the city's south side.The suspect is described as an African-American male, 30-35 years old, 6' tall with a thin build, light complexion, full beard and a mustache.

Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. donates protective equipment to Milwaukee police

MILWAUKEE --  Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. -- the company that produces Summerfest -- donated hundreds of pieces of personal protective equipment (PPE) to the Milwaukee Police Department on Friday, April 3.In total, 700 Tyvek suits and 200 pairs of shoe coverings were donated.

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police on Thursday, April 2 asked for help identifying and locating a man who used a crowbar to enter and burglarize a garage near 41st Street and Clarke Street.It happened on Wednesday, April 1 around 9:15 a.m.Police said the man removed property from the garage after forcing entry.
