Elevator motor overheats, fills US Bank offices with smoke

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Fire crews responded to the U.S. Bank building early Thursday morning, June 5th.According to officials, crews responded to the scene around 2 a.m. after an overheated electrical motor in an elevator caused light smoke to fill surrounding offices.Authorities say the surrounding offices did not sustain any damage.No additional details have been released at this time. 

Up in flames: Food truck catches fire near S. 16th Street and Washington

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee Fire officials were on the scene of a fire involving a food truck that occurred near S. 16th Street and Washington Street in Milwaukee.A deputy fire chief with MFD tells FOX6 News a battalion chief was on the scene of a fatal crash near Cesar Chavez Drive and Mineral Street was leaving the scene when he noticed smoke.The chief followed the smoke -- and discovered the food truck on fire.The food truck that caught fire apparently contained propane tanks -- but firefighters were able to knock down and put out the fire before it reached those tanks.No injured were reported as a result of this fire.A damage estimate is not yet available.The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

Fully engulfed: What caused small explosion and fire at apartment building?

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee Fire officials on Sunday afternoon, May 11th were on the scene of a fully engulfed fire that occurred at an apartment building near 92nd and Marion.Fire officials say the fire broke out on the second floor of an apartment building -- and there was some sort of a small explosion during this fire -- as indicated by debris inside the building.At least one of the units is a total loss."When the first crews arrived we had heavy fire showing out of the windows of the front, second floor apartments.

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The three-alarm fire at Roz Auto Salvage on Thursday afternoon, April 24th affects neighboring homes and businesses near 13th and Ramsey.An employee at Lamers Bus Lines captured a video of the fire and the explosions."There were several loud booms or what appeared to be explosions throughout," said Dean Brown, manager of Lamers Bus Lines.Brown says Lamers workers could only watch as black smoke billowed out of the neighboring yard. "They've been there forever.

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- 78-year-old Leo Roethig was pulled out of a burning duplex Thursday, April 17th and died Friday, April 18th.The fire started a little after 5 p.m. Thursday evening in the upper unit of the building near 53rd and Nash in Milwaukee.

Man without a pulse pulled from "fully engulfed" duplex fire

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee Fire officials say a man was pulled from a duplex after a fire broke out on Thursday, April 17th.The call for the fire came in just after 5:00 p.m. It happened near 53rd and Nash.Fire officials say when the man was initially pulled from the home, he did not have a pulse.

Red Cross called to scene of house fire on N. 51st Boulevard

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee Fire officials say the American Red Cross was called to the scene of a house fire that occurred on N. 51st Boulevard on Monday night, April 14th.The call for the fire came in just after 7:00 p.m.Crews arriving on scene saw smoke coming from the second floor of the home -- and eventually found fire on the second floor of the 1.5-story home.No one was injured in the fire.A damage estimate and cause of the fire have not been released.The American Red Cross said on Twitter it is assisting a family of five.Monitor FOX6 News and FOX6Now.com for updates on this story.

New protocol for active shooter scenarios that involves police & fire crews

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Members of the Milwaukee Police Department and the Milwaukee Fire Department teamed up on Tuesday, April 8th for an active shooter training event.In this day and age of shootings and mass killings at elementary and high schools, university campuses, places of worship and movie theaters -- active shooter training is a necessity -- but Tuesday's training was a little different than most.Emergency protocol in a "shooter in a building" scenario used to call for law enforcement to enter the building, find the shooter, secure the building and then allow medical personnel to enter and treat the wounded.However, by that time, lives could be lost that could have been saved.The new protocol involves the response of both police -- and fire department medical teams."We can`t save lives without their help.
