Red Cross dispatched to early morning house fire on N. 22nd Street

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The American Red Cross was dispatched to the scene of a house fire occurring early Sunday morning, September 14th.

It happened in the 2400 block of N. 22nd Street.

Fire officials tell FOX6 News it was just before 1:30 a.m. that the call came in.

Firefighters encountered heavy smoke -- and the fire was upgraded to a one-alarm fire.

Fire officials believe this fire originated in the living room of a one-and-a-half-story home.

The home had working smoke detectors, and two people were able to get themselves out of the home.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
