CHICAGO -- A Chicago printing company is helping veterans get back on their feet as they try to meet the high demand for Cubs World Series gear.The weekend was a busy one for the staff at Rags of Honor, a company that employs veterans struggling with homelessness.

MADISON -- Veterans, soldiers, friends and family members spent Saturday, October 22nd marching 22 miles across Madison -- and there was a mission behind this march.They marched for 22 miles -- representing the 22 veterans that commit suicide each day.They marched wearing packs weighing 22 pounds.

Job Fair for veterans held at War Memorial Center in Milwaukee; 80 employers on hand

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee County officials on Thursday, October 6th hosted a job fair for veterans at the War Memorial Center in Milwaukee -- from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.This job fair was part of a combined effort by Milwaukee County Veterans Services, the Zablocki VA Medical Center and the Department of Workforce Development.More than 80 employers were on hand to discuss employment opportunities with veterans and their immediate family.

WASHINGTON -- Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus announced on Thursday, September 22nd that the next Freedom and Independence variant Littoral Combat Ships will be named USS Marinette (LCS 25) and USS Mobile (LCS 26) to recognize the two cities’ significant contribution to Navy ship building.The ceremony took place at the Russell Senate Office Building in Washington, DC.The future USS Marinette, a Freedom- variant Littoral Combat Ship, will be the first commissioned U.S. Navy ship to bear the name.

Michelle Obama sponsors $2.7B attack submarine for U.S. Navy

A Connecticut company has delivered to the U.S. Navy an attack submarine that is sponsored by first lady Michelle Obama and will be named for her home state.General Dynamics Electric Boat delivered the submarine that will become the USS Illinois on Saturday after more than five years of construction.The first lady will be involved in the life of the submarine and the lives of its sailors and their families.The submarine will begin its active service at a commissioning ceremony on Oct. 29.It took thousands of shipyard employees in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Virginia and submarine supply businesses nationwide to build the $2.7 billion submarine.Electric Boat is based in Groton (GRAH'-tuhn) and has been designing and building submarines since 1900.

Sheriff Clarke: Violence will not be allowed to get out hand

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke said Sunday, August 14th a repeat of the violence that plagued the city Saturday night, August 13th cannot be allowed to happen.Clarke said the violence will not be allowed to get out hand, citing Ferguson, Missouri and Baltimore -- where rioting broke out after black men died during incidents there involving police."People have to find a more socially acceptable way to deal with their frustration, their anger and resentment.

Coast Guard responds for boat suffering dead battery on Lake Michigan near Port Washington

MILWAUKEE -- The Coast Guard on Monday, August 1st responded to a disabled boat on Lake Michigan near Port Washington.The call for this incident came in shortly before 6:00 p.m. -- after the boat sent a 'mayday' transmission.No one responded when Coast Guard officials tried to make contact with the boat, and an hour later, another 'mayday' transmission came in.Communication was then established between the boat and the Coast Guard.No one was hurt, and no one ended up being in distress.Officials with the Port Washington Fire Department towed the boat to shore.
