Kohler police arrest man accused in series of thefts from vehicles at fitness facilities

SHEBOYGAN -- Sheboygan police say a Milwaukee man was taken into custody by police in Kohler -- accused in a series of thefts from vehicles in Kohler, Sheboygan and other communities.The man was arrested on Monday morning, February 29th shortly before 10:00 a.m.Police located the man near the "Sports Core" and they say he attempted to avoid arrest.The incidents for which this man is believed responsible date back to 2015, and usually occurred with vehicles parked at the "Sports Core" in Kohler and Planet Fitness in Sheboygan.Police say the man seemingly targeted vehicles where purses were left in plain sight inside the unoccupied vehicles.The investigation is ongoing.

Man arrested after leading authorities on 20-mile pursuit in Sheboygan County

SHEBOYGAN COUNTY -- An 18-year-old man was taken into custody Wednesday, January 27th after leading authorities on a 20-mile pursuit in Sheboygan County.The pursuit began around 10:45 p.m. when a Sheboygan County Sheriff's Deputy attempted to stop a vehicle on County Road U near County Road T in the Town of Greenbush in regards to a check welfare complaint.When the deputy activated his emergency lights and siren, the male operator of the suspect vehicle failed to stop and led deputies and other law enforcement agencies on a 20-mile pursuit through the Towns of Greenbush, Mitchell and Plymouth on the western side of Sheboygan County.At times speeds of the pursuit reached 75 m.p.h.The pursuit ended when a deputy was able to use a tire deflation device (Spike Strip), which deflated three of the four tires on the suspect vehicle.A 18-year-old male and lone occupant was taken into custody without incident.After the investigation was completed, the male was taken to the Sheboygan County Detention Center and will be referred to the District Attorney’s office on a Felony Charge of Vehicle Operator Fleeing / Eluding an Officer.There was no property damage or injuries reported as a result of the pursuit.No further information will be released until charges have been filed.

Firefighters called out to house fire near 15th & Indiana in Sheboygan

SHEBOYGAN -- Sheboygan County Sheriff's officials confirmed for FOX6 News that firefighters were on the scene of a house fire near 15th and Indiana Avenue on Tuesday night, January 26th.The call for this fire came in around 6:45 p.m.Fire units arrived on scene within five minutes to find the home surrounded in a heavy blanket of smoke.The occupants of the lower unit were accounted for upon firefighters' arrival.Intense heat, smoke and fire prohibited firefighters from entering and searching the upper two units immediately, despite repeated attempts.

Two dead in wrong-way, head-on collision that shut down I-43 SB near Oostburg

SHEBOYGAN -- Two people were killed in a head-on crash that shut down I-43 SB near Oostburg on Wednesday evening, January 20th.Around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sheboygan County Sheriff's officials received a call regarding a vehicle traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-43, south of Oostburg.As deputies were en route, they learned a head-on crash had occurred near Mile Marker 113.The drivers of both of the vehicles involved were killed.Sheriff's officials say a Pontiac, driven by an 85-year-old man, was headed the wrong way on I-43 prior to the crash.The other vehicle, a Honda, was being driven by a 35-year-old man.Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in this incident.

Gas station canopy collapses in Cascade in Sheboygan County during winter storm

CASCADE -- Sheboygan County Sheriff's officials on Monday, December 28th were called out to a gas station after that gas station's canopy collapsed -- the second canopy collapse to occur in southeastern Wisconsin on Monday.It happened at Marshall's Gas & Goods on Madison Avenue near County Road NN in Cascade.We're told a deputy in the area noticed that the canopy had fallen over, but saw somebody from the business dealing with the issue.No one was hurt.There was no damage at the gas station -- other than to the canopy.It is believed that either wind or snow toppled the canopy.
