CALEDONIA (WITI) -- A total of 95 animals have been rescued from the Orphan Kanines facility and two homes in Caledonia and after a yearly fire inspection of the animal shelter found conditions "hazardous to both humans and animals alike" -- and prompted police to conduct a more thorough investigation.On Thursday morning, May 29th, officials executed a search warrant at Orphan Kanines on Kremer Ave.

TRAFFIC ALERT: Full overnight closures scheduled for Wis. 20 under I-94 in Racine Co.

RACINE COUNTY (WITI) -- The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will begin preliminary demolition work of the I-94 West (northbound) Bridge over WIS 20 in Racine County.Demolition of the parapets is scheduled to begin Thursday night May 29th with the remaining demolition work to continue and conclude on Saturday night into Sunday morning.The work will require full overnight closures of WIS 20 under I-94, Thursday and Saturday nights.On Thursday night, WIS 20 under I-94 will be shut down from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.There will be an overnight double lane closure of I-94 West (NB) through the work zone from 9:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.On Friday night, WIS 20 under I-94 will be open while the I-94 West (NB) double lane closure in the work zone will be in effect from 9:30 p.m. to 8 a.m.On Saturday, WIS 20 under I-94 will be closed from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m.  The double lane closure on I-94 West (NB) in the work zone will be in effect from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m.The schedule is weather dependent and subject to change.There will be noise and dust associated with the I-94 West (NB) bridge demolition.Steps will be taken to minimize these effects.Travelers can utilize 58th Road and the frontage roads as their detour routes to get around the overnight full closures on WIS 20 under I-94.WisDOT is continuing its resurfacing project on I-94 in Racine County.Related night time lane closures north of WIS 20 will remain in effect.One lane of traffic is scheduled to remain open at all times in the overnight hours.As always, check 511wi.gov for detailed information on closures and traffic.

BUSTED: Task force aimed at taking pedophiles off the street makes arrest

RACINE (WITI) -- A Racine man is busted for child porn -- and he's just the latest in a string of arrests involving the internet and children in Racine County.Goold Street in Racine is lined with manicured lawns and quaint homes, but there is one home in particular that stands out to neighbors."It`s a very unsettling feeling and it makes me really nervous now," one neighbor told FOX6 News.Authorities say a man who lives in a home on Goold Street -- identified as 35-year-old Jacob Bierer illegally downloaded child pornography "for years."According to a criminal complaint against him, Bierer told investigators he would get drunk, download child porn and then delete it.Neighbors say what's alarming to them is the fact that Bierer lives just steps away from an elementary school."Especially having a younger child, it makes me concerned," a neighbor said."These particular cases are very disturbing," Racine County Sheriff Christopher Schmaling said.In recent months, the Racine County Sheriff's Office has created a special task force with the intent of catching people using the internet as a weapon against kids."We have pedophiles out there who are looking at preying on our children and these are the individuals who we are literally targeting and arresting," Schmaling said.They are arrests neighbors are glad to see."You always think that it can`t happen in my neighborhood or that happens in other people`s neighborhoods, or it happens on TV, but apparently, we can`t take that approach anymore," a neighbor said.Bierer is being held in the Racine County Jail.If he is convicted, he faces 25 years in prison.

Racine man accused of pawning stolen jewelry, but where did he get it from?

RACINE (WITI) -- 19-year-old Andrew Casper of Racine has been charged in a case in which he is accused of pawning stolen property.Casper faces one count of receiving stolen property (greater than $10,000) as party to a crime.Casper has previous convictions from 2012, including first-offense OWI, criminal damage to property and bail jumping, and possession of synthetic marijuana.A criminal complaint against Casper says Caledonia police on April 15th responded to a home on Newman Road -- where they spoke with a woman who reported her diamond wedding ring and engagement band were missing from her jewelry box.The woman told police she further discovered several items of jewelry missing from her home.The complaint says the woman made a list of the items missing from her home, which included numerous pieces of jewelry, an iPod Touch and $610 in currency.The total loss of items taken was $25,309 -- according to the complaint.The woman told police she believed the items were stolen by her babysitter, and the woman and police met with the babysitter at the Caledonia Police Department on April 19th.The complaint says the woman who noticed the jewelry and other items missing went to the mother of her babysitter -- and was able to recover a Ziploc bag full of jewelry from the babysitter.The babysitter told police she had stolen the items in order to obtain money for her boyfriend, according to the complaint.The babysitter told police she took jewelry from the woman's home on Newman Road and gave it to Casper and another man, who took the jewelry and pawned it.
