WAUWATOSA -- The top of a semi trailer smashed into a railroad overpass in Wauwatosa on Thursday afternoon, January 7th.It happened on Swan Boulevard near the entrance to the Hoyt Park Pool -- just south of the Menomonee River Parkway shortly before 1:00 p.m.Police say the semi was headed southbound when it struck the overpass.The road is a "no trucking" street.We're told the semi was hauling building materials for a foundry, but those materials weren't hazardous or concerning.Swan Boulevard was closed to southbound traffic for a short time due to this incident.A tow truck came to the scene to remove the semi.The scene was cleared just before 4:00 p.m.Police said they expected a citation would be issued against the semi's driver.Canadian Pacific officials were notified, and they responded to the scene to inspect the bridge.

WAUWATOSA -- Officials with the Wauwatosa Fire Department on Monday, December 28th were called out for two large trees that came down on homes -- in separate incidents.The first incident happened on Church Street near Hillcrest Drive around 7:30 a.m.The second incident happened on N. 110th Place just before 3:00 p.m.We're told both of the trees that fell led to structural damage to these homes -- but no one was hurt.No one had to be displaced from either home as a result of these incidents.City crews hauled the tree away from the home on Church Street, and a tree removal company handled the tree at N. 110th Place.
