Antoinette Martin sentenced to 3 years probation after driving away with squad car

WAUWATOSA -- 20-year-old Antoinette Martin,  who pleaded guilty Dec. 7 to charges of escape-criminal arrest (felony) and disorderly conduct (misdemeanor) after she took a Wauwatosa squad car for a spin, was sentenced to three years probation on Monday, Jan. 7.The court sentenced Martin to 90 days in the House of Correction on the disorderly conduct charge -- and she had already served that amount of time.

Police seek suspect who stole purse from 79-year-old after helping her clear snow

WAUWATOSA -- Police are seeking a suspect accused of stealing a 79-year-old woman's purse after helping her clear snow from her vehicle.It happened on New Year's Eve, Monday, Dec. 31 shortly before 6 p.m. on Glencoe Circle near Bluemound Road in Wauwatosa.Police said the suspect followed the woman home after helping her clear the snow from her vehicle at the Walmart Market near 70th and Main Street in Milwaukee.When the 79-year-old woman got home, she was removing items from the back seat of her vehicle when the suspect approached from behind and took the purse from her shoulder.Police said no weapon was presented or implied.

Police: Reckless driver strikes tree, parked car before taking off on foot in Wauwatosa

WAUWATOSA -- Police are seeking a suspect after a vehicle struck a tree and a parked car in Wauwatosa on Thursday evening, Nov. 22.It happened after Wauwatosa police officers spotted a vehicle traveling recklessly -- speeding and driving into oncoming traffic while headed eastbound on Center Street near 76th Street.Police said as an officer attempted to catch up to the vehicle, the driver stopped and got out near 63rd and Center, before getting back into the vehicle and fleeing northbound on 63rd.The vehicle then crashed into the tree and parked vehicle near 63rd and Clarke, and police said the driver took off on foot.A perimeter was established, but the driver wasn't located.Police said they don't believe the vehicle was stolen.

'Wasn't a big deal:' Police seek suspect in hit-and-run that left 11-year-old boy injured

WAUWATOSA -- Wauwatosa police have released surveillance photos of a vehicle wanted in connection with a hit-and-run crash in which an 11-year-old boy was injured.It happened on Wednesday, Nov. 14 near 68th and Milwaukee Avenue around 3 p.m.Police said the boy was attempting to walk across the street when he was struck.
