1 firefighter, 1 civilian hurt in crash involving MFD ambulance

MILWAUKEE -- Two people were hurt in a crash involving a Milwaukee Fire Department ambulance in Milwaukee Monday night, Dec. 2.Officials with MFD said one firefighter and one civilian were taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.The patient in the back of the ambulance who was being transported at the time of the crash was transferred to another ambulance and continued being transported to the hospital.MFD officials said the condition of that patient did not change due to the crash.

'We found near hoarder conditions:' 5 adults, 7 children evacuated during house fire near 20th and Burleigh

MILWAUKEE — Five adults and seven children were evacuated from a house fire near 20th and Burleigh Saturday, Nov. 30.The Milwaukee Fire Department recieved a report of the fire around 6:30 a.m. Upon arrival, crews found a heavy fire coming out of the attic.“We assisted five adults and seven children from the building, and made our way to the attic,” said Battalion Chief Dan Lipski. “We found near hoarder conditions up there with heavy fire load.”Lipski said there was “so much stuff” in the attic because someone was living there.Crews were able to extinguish the fire, but the fire caused extensive damage to the building.

MFD station near 27th and Capitol evacuated due to suspicious bag

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Fire Department fire station near 27th Street and Capitol Drive was evacuated Monday night, Nov. 18 due to a suspicious bag.It happened around 8 p.m.An investigation was underway to determine the contents of the bag.Police, paramedics, firefighters, and MFD and MPD's hazardous materials units saturated the area.Authorities were quick to evacuate firefighters from Station 36 and also, a handful of people from nearby businesses, including McDonald's, out of an abundance of caution.A FOX6 News crew on scene said things were beginning to clear around 10:30 p.m.In an update on Monday, Nov. 25, police said an investigation revealed the bag did not contain any hazardous devices and said they had not yet identified who the bag belonged to.

Death investigation underway near 20th Place and Wilbur in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE -- A death investigation was underway after a woman was found unresponsive on a sidewalk on Milwaukee's south side early Monday morning, Nov. 18.Police were called to the area of 20th Place and Wilbur Avenue shortly before 6 a.m.Upon arrival, the Milwaukee Fire Department was conducting CPR on the woman.

MILWAUKEE -- At the Milwaukee Fire Department training academy on Thursday night, Nov. 14, a special group took the stage. 42 recruits from the department's July 29 recruiting class, after 16 weeks of preparation, graduated and became firefighters.Each recruit has had their own journeys that led them to that moment.
