WAUKESHA (WITI) --  HAWS, the Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County is thanking the community for its support as it continues to care for 331 chinchillas pulled from a home in Waukesha last week.

Waukesha police: Four people detained following traffic stop, found to be in stolen vehicle

WAUKESHA (WITI) -- Waukesha police say four people were detained following a traffic stop on Tuesday evening, March 31st after it was determined the vehicle they were in was stolen.The traffic stop happened just before 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 164 and Main Street in Waukesha.We're told the vehicle in question had been reported stolen to police.

Charged: Texas men accused of theft at Mount Pleasant Best Buy; busted at Menomonee Falls Best Buy

RACINE COUNTY (WITI) -- Three Texas men are criminally charged, accused of stealing video game items from a Best Buy store in Mount Pleasant, and they were arrested at a Best Buy in Menomonee Falls.The following men each face a felony charge of retail theft, intentionally taking more than $500 to $5,000 as party to a crime:

Uninhabitable: Police say 3 children live in home where 331 chinchillas found; parents could face charges

WAUKESHA (WITI) -- Waukesha police say two parents are expected to face child neglect charges after 331 chinchillas were pulled from a home on Melody Lane near Laura Lane on Sunday, March 29th.Police were called out to the home shortly after 9:30 a.m. by an individual requesting a welfare check on a female at the home -- based on comments she made on social media.

New Berlin police officer taken to the hospital after squad SUV struck by another vehicle

NEW BERLIN (WITI) -- New Berlin police say an officer had to be taken to the hospital after that officer's squad SUV was struck by another vehicle on Thursday afternoon, March 19th.It happened around 12:30 p.m. near College Avenue and Sunnyslope Road.The officer was taken to the hospital, but it is believed that officer suffered only minor injuries.The other driver involved in this incident was not hurt.The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department is handling the investigation.
