WAUKESHA (WITI) -- Squads from the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department and the Town of Waukesha Fire Department responded to a single-vehicle traffic accident on River Road in the Town of Waukesha Wednesday night, August 13th.Upon arrival, EMS and deputies located a SUV against a tree, fully engulfed in flames.The occupant was pronounced dead at the scene.The investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling southbound on River Road when the vehicle left the roadway and a struck a tree.The accident remains under investigation by the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department.

Can YOU help? Brookfield police seek suspect in armed robbery of Open Pantry store

BROOKFIELD (WITI) -- Brookfield police are seeking the public's help in identifying the suspect responsible for the July 16th armed of the Open Pantry convenience store located on Bluemound Road in Brookfield.According to police, the suspect entered the store just after 5 p.m., approached the clerk, implied he had a handgun and demanded money.The suspect then exited the store and fled the scene on foot.The suspect is described as a white male in his 20's, 5'7" to 6'00"tall and 150 to 200 pounds.No suspect vehicle information was observed or reported.Anyone with any information is advised to contact Officer Leidel at 262-787-3702.

Scare near Waukesha Memorial Hospital Monday leads to brief lockdown

WAUKESHA (WITI) -- Waukesha police say a man inside a home near Waukesha Memorial Hospital on Monday, August 11th was thought to have a gun -- and prompted a police response.A Waukesha Memorial Hospital spokeswoman tells FOX6 News the hospital was briefly placed on lockdown -- after police were called out to the home near the hospital around 5:00 p.m.Police say the man, who was thought to have a gun, has been suicidal in the past.The man did not have any hostages, but there were others inside the home at the time police were called out.

Flight for Life transports man to the hospital after motorcycle crash in Waukesha

WAUKESHA (WITI) -- Investigators in Waukesha County are looking into what led to a motorcycle crash that occurred around midnight Thursday, July 31st.It happened near Watertown Road and Doral Road.Flight for Life was called to the scene to transport the man who was driving the motorcycle to the hospital.There is no word at this time on his condition, or what may have led to this crash.

Menomonee Falls police: Three in custody after residential burglary, two-vehicle crash Saturday

MENOMONEE FALLS (WITI) -- Menomonee Falls Police say three people are in custody in connection with a residential burglary, and two-vehicle crash.Police were called out to a residential burglary in progress on Saturday, July 26th -- just before 4:30 p.m. It happened in the 16200 block of Lone Oak Lane.As police were responding, they learned the fleeing suspects were involved in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Lisbon Road and Graysland Drive.Police say the suspects then fled on foot into the city of Brookfield.Several agencies, including a K9 unit assisted in locating and apprehending three male suspects.The investigation is ongoing.

Arrest warrant issued: Woman accused of showing children pornographic pictures

WAUKESHA COUNTY (WITI) -- Waukesha County law enforcement officials have issued an arrest warrant against a Waupaca woman who allegedly showed children pornographic pictures.20-year-old Bridget Wilcox is accused of showing two girls explicit pictures of her boyfriend as proof he was cheating on her.Wilcox faces two charges of exposing a child to harmful material.She could face up to seven years in prison if convicted.

Police: Suspect in custody after high-speed chase begins in Waukesha County, ends in Greenfield

GREENFIELD (WITI) -- Muskego police tell FOX6 News a high-speed chase that began in Waukesha County on Tuesday night, July 22nd made its way to the area of 60th and Layton in Greenfield.The pursuit began around 8:45 p.m. in Muskego -- and made its way into New Berlin and onto I-43 -- finishing up in Greenfield, according to Muskego police.Muskego police said they were assisting with a perimeter that was set up near 60th Street and Layton Avenue in Greenfield.Several streets near 60th and Layton were blocked off.Just before 10:00 p.m., FOX6 News learned a K9 officer found a suspect near 51st and Armor.

An indoor shooting range in Brookfield? One is set to open in October...but where?

BROOKFIELD (WITI) -- Three avid hunters are looking to open an indoor shooting range in Brookfield.The partners bought the former B&G Golf store on Burleigh Street near 124th Street in January.Since then, they have been gutting the place to create an indoor shooting range.It is expected to open in early October.The overall project -- including the purchase of the building, is $2 million.

One killed in crash on I-94 near Moorland Road; alcohol and speed appear to be factors

BROOKFIELD (WITI) --  The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department and the City of Brookfield Police and Fire Departments responded to a report of a vehicle rollover on I-94 westbound, east of Moorland Road, early Tuesday morning, July 15th.The first deputy on the scene found a vehicle on its side in the north ditch line of I-94.There were two occupants located outside the vehicle.The first occupant, a 33-year-old man from Milwaukee, was unconscious and appeared to have been ejected.He was transported to Froedtert Hospital by Flight for Life.The second occupant, a 31-year-old man also from Milwaukee, was transported by ambulance to Elmbrook Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.The 33-year-old man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounce deceased approximately two hours later.The initial investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling westbound on I-94 in the left lane when the driver lost control, crossed all lanes of traffic and left the roadway.Upon leaving the roadway, the vehicle rolled at least once, coming to rest in the ditch line on the north side of I-94.Both alcohol and speed appear to be factors in the crash.This incident remains under investigation by the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department.

Sex offender alert: Waukesha police issue information on woman set to be released

WAUKESHA (WITI) -- The Waukesha Police Department is alerting neighbors about a registered sex offender set to be released.The Waukesha Police Department says 46-year-old Lisa Farkas is currently homeless.She is no longer under the supervision of the state of Wisconsin.Police say Farkas is a lifetime registrant with Wisconsin's Sex Offender Registry.Police say Farkas prefers adult female victims.Her previous violations, according to police, include working with a male companion and taking an adult female back to their apartment -- where the two tied the victim up and forced her to perform sex acts with Farkas.Police say another victim was beaten with a clothes hanger.Police say Farkas' last victim was in prison -- and police say this victim was under the influence of tranquilizers.Farkas is 5'7" tall, and weighs 176 pounds.
