Mount Pleasant police arrest man accused of destroying apartment, threatening to kill those inside

MOUNT PLEASANT (WITI) -- Mount Pleasant police on Sunday, December 7th arrested a man after they say he was destroying an apartment, and threatening to kill everyone inside using a gun.Police were called out to the apartment on Warwick Way shortly before 4:30 p.m. Sunday.Police learned two people inside the apartment were able to get out on their own, but a woman remained inside with the suspect.Officers began communicating with the suspect, and the woman was able to leave the apartment.Eventually, the man surrendered peacefully.No one was hurt.The suspect was taken to the Racine County Jail.

26-year-old Mount Pleasant man arrested for marijuana possession, resisting arrest

MOUNT PLEASANT (WITI) -- A 26-year-old Mount Pleasant man was taken into custody Thursday, December 4th for possession of marijuana and resisting arrest.According to authorities, officers observed a suspicious vehicle parked in the area of Howe and 23rd around 1 p.m.At that time, the officer stopped and spoke with the two occupants of the vehicle.

CHARGED: 55-year-old Racine man with lengthy criminal history faces new charges in weekend standoff

RACINE COUNTY (WITI) -- A 55-year-old Racine man, arrested following a standoff this past weekend in Racine has now been charged.Kurt Hanson, who has a criminal history dating back to the 1980s, faces four charges in connection with this incident this weekend, including: first degree recklessly endangering safety, repeater, use of a dangerous weapon, failure to comply with officer's attempt to take a person into custody, repeater, obstructing an officer, repeater, and disorderly conduct, repeater, use of a dangerous weapon.Hanson's criminal history includes convictions for resisting arrest, possession of THC, disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property, obstructing, battery to a law enforcement officer, battery, substantial battery, unlawful use of a telephone, violation of a domestic violence injunction, and OWI (first, second and third offense).A criminal complaint filed against Hanson says police were dispatched to the the 1600 block of Russet Street on Saturday, November 1st -- just before 11:30 a.m. for a report of a man with a knife.Upon arrival, officers spoke with a man who said his daughter was out working in the yard when Hanson, who lives across the street, let his dog into the yard.

Bizarre series of events spurs police standoff in Racine

RACINE (WITI) -- A series of events on Saturday spurred a standoff lasting several hours in Racine.Police swarmed the area near Russett Street and Victory Avenue Saturday afternoon, while neighbors looked on, trying to piece together the narrative of what caused the chaos."His dog proceeded to soil my grass and I asked him you are going to pick that up because I don't want that sitting on my grass," said Kim Polk, neighbor.Kim Polk lives diagonal from the man at the center of this story.

64-year-old man killed after farm equipment is blown over by high winds

RACINE COUNTY (WITI) -- A 64-year-old man near Union Grove was killed Friday afternoon when an auger fell over.The Racine County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the 16,000 block of Spring Street in the Town of Yorkville.It was found that a 51-foot grain auger blew over because of high winds.

Ordered to stand trial: Man accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend multiple times

RACINE COUNTY (WITI) -- Charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide, accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend multiple times, 55-year-old Robert Schooler has been ordered to stand trial.The incident occurred on October 20th -- around 9:30 p.m.Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of Grand Avenue for reports of a woman who had been stabbed.When they arrived, officers found a 59-year-old woman suffering from multiple stab wounds.

CHARGED: Convicted felon accused of stealing aluminum from two Racine County businesses

RACINE COUNTY (WITI) -- A convicted felon is charged in a case out of Racine County in which he's accused of burglarizing two Racine County businesses in June.21-year-old Jesse Robinson faces two counts of burglary of a building or dwelling.
