Caledonia police: Woman steals Salvation Army Red Kettle from Walgreens

CALEDONIA -- A Salvation Army Red Kettle was stolen from the front entrance way of a  Walgreen in the Village of  Caledonia Thursday night, December 22nd.Officials said a woman stood in the vestibule of the store for approximately one hour before stealing the kettle.

Pedestrian seriously injured after being struck by vehicle in Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT -- A 48-year-old pedestrian from Racine suffered serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle Thursday night, December 21st.It happened around 8:50 p.m. near the intersection of STH 31  and STH 20.Witnesses reported that the vehicle faced a green light while traveling northbound on STH 31.

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Mount Pleasant police are investigating a suspicious vehicle fire that spread to a garage and forced evacuations early Thursday, December 7th.It happened shortly before 2:00 a.m. on Meyer Court near Durand Avenue.Police say arriving officers found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames in front of an attached garage, and the garage eaves were beginning to start on fire.People were evacuated from a condo complex as firefighters responded to extinguish the flames.Police say this fire is considered suspicious and an investigation is ongoing.No one was hurt.

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Mount Pleasant police squads were parked in front of the Piggly Wiggly on Washington Saturday, November 18th during the "Stuff the Squad" initiative.Police officers collected items for the Racine County Food Bank and Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin.Customers were encouraged to purchase $5 or $10 pre-made bags of food and donate them.Officers said in 2016, they collected about 4,000 pounds of food.They were looking to beat that this year.

RACINE -- The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) has launched a $5.4 million capital campaign to construct a new facility to replace their existing building in Racine.According to WHS, they hope to build a state-of-the-art animal shelter and adoption center at the northeaster corner of 16th and 90th streets in Mount Pleasant, where they purchased land in late 2016.

31-year-old man arrested on drug charges after search warrants executed on vehicle, home

RACINE COUNTY -- A 31-year-old Racine County man was arrested Tuesday, October 10th after search warrants were executed on a vehicle and at his residence.Agents from the Racine County Metro Drug Unit, Drug Enforcement Administration, and members of the Racine County Swat Team executed two search warrants around 3:50 p.m.The first warrant was executed on a vehicle returning from Illinois to Racine County which was occupied by the Racine County man and a female occupant.
