"Milwaukee Trauma Response Initiative" expands to MPD District Five

MILWAUKEE -- Officials in Milwaukee are working to expand the support available to families going through traumatic experiences.Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele on Tuesday, February 21st were joined by other city officials in announcing the expansion.Those at Milwaukee Police Department District Five will be taking part in the Milwaukee Trauma Response Initiative this year.The initiative works to support families and children who have experienced violence."And what we are trying to do, again in close collaboration with Milwaukee County, is to work with these individuals who have witnessed violence.

Police investigate rash of vehicle break-ins at Uihlein Soccer Park

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are investigating a rash of vehicle break-ins at the Uihlein Soccer Park near 76th and Good Hope.Police said at least a half-dozen vehicles had their windows smashed overnight Monday, February 20th and into Tuesday.Items were stolen from some of the vehicles.

Milwaukee police: 66-year-old man reported as critical missing found safe

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police have located critical missing 66-year-old Ronald Carthen, who suffers from diabetes and needs his medication.Officials reported Carthen as critical missing after he was last seen on Friday, February 17th at approximately 6:45 a.m. in the neighborhood just south of 14th and Morgan on Milwaukee's south side.Again — he has been found safe.

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are investigating two separate shooting incidents that occurred early Monday morning, February 20th.The first shooting occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. near 26th and Lapham.According to police, a 26-year-old man was shot in the abdomen by unknown suspects.

Milwaukee police: Fight breaks out among family, leads to homicide

MILWAUKEE -- An elderly woman was hurt following an accident that took place near Brady and Farwell on Milwaukee's east side.It happened Thursday, February 16th around 3:45 p.m.Police said an 87-year-old woman was seriously hurt when she fell as she was crossing the street mid-block.Based on video officials received from one of the area residents, police believe it was the woman's fault she was hit.

Gunfire at a gas station: Jury finds Lorainz Johnson GUILTY in death of Jovonte Daniels

MILWAUKEE -- Accused in the July fatal shooting of Jovonte Daniels at the former BP gas station at Sherman and Burleigh, a 21-year-old Milwaukee man was found guilty by a jury Thursday, February 16th.The shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. on July 23rd.A jury on Thursday found Lorainz Johnson guilty of one count of first degree reckless homicide.Johnson was remanded into custody pending sentencing, which is set for April 7th.A criminal complaint indicates Johnson approached Daniels at the gas station.

Police: 51-year-old man shot during robbery inside home near 17th and Wright

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are investigating a shooting that happened Wednesday morning, February 15th on the city's north side.It happened around 8:00 a.m. near 17th and Wright.According to police, a 51-year-old man was shot during a robbery inside of a home.The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment of what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.MPD continues to seek suspects and the investigation is ongoing.
