Green Bay Packers will face Indianapolis Colts in Hall of Fame game

CANTON, Ohio — The NFL has announced that the Indianapolis Colts will play the Green Bay Packers in a fitting matchup for the Hall of Fame game on August 7th.A day before the league kicks off the preseason, the Hall of Fame will induct Packers quarterback Brett Favre, former Colts coach Tony Dungy and wide receiver Marvin Harrison, along with five others who were elected earlier this month.Each team will be appearing in the game for the fifth time.The game will be played at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton.Other members of the Class of 2016 are owner Edward DeBartolo Jr., linebacker Kevin Greene, tackle Orlando Pace, quarterback Ken Stabler and guard Dick Stanfel.

Packers Foundation donates $200,000 to Green Bay East H.S. football program

NEW YORK  — Brett Favre, selected last weekend for the NFL Hall of Fame, will be the subject of a biography coming out in November 2016.Houghton Mifflin Harcourt announced Monday, February 8th that it had acquired Jeff Pearlman's "Gunslinger: The Remarkable, Improbable, Iconic Life of Brett Favre."According to the publisher, Pearlman will draw upon hundreds of interviews, including friends and family members.The retired quarterback himself is not participating, but he did allow access to many close to him.Favre spent much of his long and colorful career with the Green Bay Packers, winning three consecutive NFL MVP awards from 1995-97 and a championship in the 1997 Super Bowl.

GREEN BAY -- The Green Bay Packers have announced Head Coach Mike McCarthy will not attend the Pro Bowl in Hawaii.McCarthy is suffering from a stomach illness, and doctors have advised him not to travel at this time.Associate Head Coach/Linebackers Winston Moss will handle his head-coaching responsibilities at the Pro Bowl for the remainder of the week.The Pro Bowl is set for Sunday, January 31st at 6:00 p.m. at Aloha Stadium.The Packers staff will coach one team and the staff of the Kansas City Chiefs will be on the other sideline.Rosters will be assigned after a Pro Bowl draft set for Wednesday night with Hall of Famers Jerry Rice and Michael Irvin serving as the non-playing captains.Players were selected without regard to conference in voting by fans, coaches and players, a format first used in the 2014 game.Three Green Bay Packers players were initially selected for the Pro Bowl: Linebacker Clay Matthews, quarterback Aaron Rodgers and guard Josh Sitton.Green Bay Packers fullback John Kuhn was named to the Pro Bowl on December 29th.On January 20th, it was announced Aaron Rodgers will not take part in the Pro Bowl due to injury.
