UW-Milwaukee officials: UWM Foundation employee tested for coronavirus not infected

MILWAUKEE -- The UWM Foundation employee who was tested Monday, March 9 for COVID-19 at a Milwaukee-area hospital is not infected with the virus, officials announced Thursday, March 12.On Wednesday, the UWM Foundation building was closed, along with an adjoining convenience store.An initial news release from UWM said the employee became ill after contact with someone who went to a country with the Level 3 warning.

Man accused of making threats to Froedtert dispatcher: 'I got nothing to lose'

MILWAUKEE -- Joel Dempsey, 36, was charged Tuesday, March 3 with a count of terrorist threats -- public panic or fear -- for allegedly making threats to dispatchers at Froedtert Hospital.According to the criminal complaint, a Milwaukee County sheriff's deputy was sent to Froedtert on Saturday, Feb. 29 to investigate a threats complaint.

Marquette falls to No. 13 Seton Hall, 88-79

UWM freshman missing for more than 2 weeks: 'It is still our hope that Sean will be found'

MILWAUKEE -- Officials with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Friday, Feb. 28 issued another appeal for assistance locating Sean Baek, 18, two weeks after his disappearance on Valentine's Day.In their update Friday, UWM officials said police "conducted an exhaustive search, both physical and electronic, on campus and in the community," but turned up no information that led to Baek.

University of Wisconsin cancels study abroad program to South Korea for spring semester

MADISON -- The University of Wisconsin-Madison announced on Wednesday, Feb. 26  that is has canceled its study abroad program to South Korea for the coming spring semester.A UW spokesperson told our news partners at NBC15.com that the university’s Vice Provost and Dean of the International Division made the call after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention raised its Warning Level to 3, which warns people to avoid nonessential travel to the Asian nation.Five students were slated to head to Seoul as part of exchanges with Yonsei University and Korea University, officials said.

Providence beats No. 19 Marquette 84-72
