Bitter cold is blanketing southeast Wisconsin and will have its grip on the region through early Wednesday. For those in need, now is a critical time to seek shelter and stay warm.

A cold weather advisory is in effect until noon on Tuesday for most lakeside counties for dangerously cold wind chills of -29?F. An extreme cold warning starts at midnight and is in effect until noon Tuesday for inland counties with wind chills as cold as -36?F.

Warm and windy today then a cold front moves through this evening, bringing a slight chance for wintry mix and much colder air. Morning flurries possible Thursday with partly cloudy skies. Highs will start to warm into the mid/upper 30s. Highs return back into the low 40s on Friday. A system passing to the south could bring a slight chance for a few rain drops and/or snowflakes late Friday in to early Saturday. No impacts expected.
