Wisconsin man charged in 4-year-old son's fatal shooting

ROSEVILLE, Mich. — Authorities have charged a Wisconsin man with second-degree child abuse in the shooting death of his 4-year-old son in suburban Detroit.Police say 27-year-old Gary Chang of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, left a semiautomatic handgun unsecured in a house in Roseville and one of the boy's siblings picked it up and shot the child Friday morning in the home's basement.The boy was pronounced dead at a hospital.Roseville Deputy Police Chief Donald Glandon says five or six children were in the house at the time of the shooting and investigators were still working to determine who pulled the trigger.Chang was arraigned Friday on one count of second-degree child abuse.

Police seek 2 suspects in armed robbery at unlocked home in Sheboygan

SHEBOYGAN -- Sheboygan police are seeking two suspects, accused in connection with an armed robbery at a home near 9th and Superior in Sheboygan.Police say the victim was targeted after posting a photo showing a large amount of cash on Facebook.The armed robbery happened on Saturday night, Nov. 10, around 8:30 p.m.According to police, the suspects, described as males, black, in their 20s, entered the unlocked home and displayed a firearm.

Sheboygan police officer hurt after alleged drunk driver crashes into squad car

SHEBOYGAN -- A Sheboygan police squad was struck by an alleged drunk driver Saturday night, Nov. 3.According to the Sheboygan Police Department, it happened around 8:20 p.m. near 14th and Michigan Avenue.Officials say the squad, occupied by two officers, was struck from behind by another vehicle.One officer was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries.The driver of the striking vehicle, a 42-year-old Sheboygan man, was arrested for drunk driving.

Woman accused of punching, biting officers during arrest sentenced to prison

SHEBOYGAN COUNTY -- A woman accused of punching and biting Sheboygan police officers as they tried to arrest her in January of 2016 has been sentenced to prison.Heather Ahles, 44, of Allouez in December of 2017 pleaded no contest to two counts of battery or threat to a judge, prosecutor or law enforcement officer.

SHEBOYGAN -- Four people were arrested as Sheboygan police investigated the overdose death of a 32-year-old man from Sheboygan.According to police, officers responded to Volrath Park on Tuesday, Aug. 21, where they found the man unresponsive in a bathroom as a result of an overdose.An investigation led detectives to a 38-year-old Sheboygan Falls woman, accused of providing the drugs to the victim.

SHEBOYGAN -- Sheboygan police are investigating a crash involving a car and motorcycle that happened Saturday night, Aug. 11.It happened near Michigan Avenue and North 3rd Street.According to police, a 23-year-old Sheboygan man was on his motorcycle heading eastbound on Michigan Avenue when he struck an SUV driven by a 50-year-old Sheboygan man.Witnesses said the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed just before the collision.

Man working for Butler company killed in industrial accident at Meijer site in Sheboygan

SHEBOYGAN -- A 20-year-old man was killed in an industrial accident that happened at the Meijer construction site in Sheboygan, police said Thursday, Aug. 9.It happened around 8:30 a.m., at the site off of Kohler Memorial Drive, near Taylor and Erie.Police said Marcelo Barreiro-Mersfelder was killed after becoming pinned between heavy equipment and a wall while pouring concrete at the site.The Sheboygan County Medical Examiner responded and determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma.The Sheboygan Police Department has determined that the death was accidental, however, the investigation is ongoing.The victim was employed by Superior Masonry Builders Inc.
