RACINE COUNTY -- A new K-9 officer with special abilities is reporting for duty at the Racine County Sheriff's Office.K-9 Officer "Karma" is a year-and-a-half-old English lab retriever who started her career training to be a service dog but after several months, it was determined she's a better fit as an electronic detection K-9.

Franksville man cited for OWI after collision between 2 trucks

TOWN OF DOVER -- A 60-year-old Franksville man has been cited for operating while intoxicated after a two-vehicle crash in the Town of Dover on Thursday morning, Nov. 15.Officials with the Racine County Sheriff's Office say shortly after 11 a.m. deputies responded to a collision on State Highway 20 just east of Britton Rd.

Minimum security inmate back in custody after walking away from work release site

'Dangerous drugs:' 36 arrested through 'Operation Orange Bottle' in Racine Co.

RACINE -- Racine County Sheriff Christopher Schmaling on Friday, Nov. 2 held a news conference to announced that since the beginning of 2018, 36 more individuals have been targeted and arrested through "Operation Orange Bottle.""If you're going to insist on selling medications and other dangerous drugs in our community, here in Racine County, you're going to be targeted and you're going to be arrested," said Sheriff Schmaling.In 2018, the Racine Sheriff’s Office Metro Drug Unit have continued their narcotics and prescription medication enforcement efforts through a fluid and large scale investigation referred to as “Operation Orange Bottle”.

Kenosha woman arrested for 1st OWI offense after rollover crash in Racine County

RACINE COUNTY -- A 33-year-old Kenosha woman was arrested early Sunday morning, Oct. 7 for operating a vehicle while intoxicated -- her first offense.It happened just before 2 a.m. near Spring Street and South Colony Avenue in the Town of Yorkville.According to the Racine County Sheriff's Office, the vehicle had entered the roundabout at the intersection going in the wrong direction at a high rate of speed.

Body of Janesville man found in water near Racine Yacht Club

RACINE -- The Racine County Sheriff's Office was called out to the water near the Racine Yacht Club Saturday morning, Oct. 6, where a body was found.Officials got the call about a non-responsive person in the water at 8:30 a.m. The Racine Fire/Rescue, Racine Police, and Racine County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene.Authorities confirmed an 80-year-old man's body was extracted from the water.

Milwaukee man faces charges after donation jar stolen, deputy led on pursuit

RACINE COUNTY -- A Milwaukee man is facing charges after allegedly stealing a donation jar from a gas station before leading law enforcement on a pursuit on Tuesday morning, Sept. 17.Racine County sheriff's officials said around 8:30 a.m., a deputy on routine patrol heard a dispatch report of the theft of the donation jar at Kwik Trip near State Highway 20 and the East Frontage Road.

RACINE COUNTY -- Thousands of dollars worth of illegal drugs are off the streets thanks to officials with the Racine County Sheriff's Office.The sheriff's office says information led them to the home of 42-year-old Paris Davis, who's allegedly involved in selling heroin and crack cocaine.On Thursday morning, Sept 6 agents from the Racine County Metro Drug Unit, the Racine County Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T and K-9 officer executed a search warrant at Davis' home near North Wisconsin and Hamilton Streets.Located during the search was 11.6 grams of heroin (street value of approx. $1,740.00), 56 grams of crack cocaine (street value of approx. $2,600.00), 3.6 grams of cocaine (street value of approx. $360.00), two digital scales, packing materials, two Quest cards, a cellphone and cash totaling $2,406.00.

'Finally had enough:' Man accused of attacking mother with machete after 6-day 'alcohol bender'

RACINE COUNTY -- A Burlington man is facing formal charges, accused of attacking his mother with a machete and butterfly knife.Edward Esposito, 41, faces one count of first degree reckless injury, use of a dangerous weapon, domestic abuse assessments, domestic abuse/threat, and one count of first degree recklessly endangering safety, use of a dangerous weapon, domestic abuse assessments.According to a criminal complaint, on Aug. 18, deputies were dispatched to a home on Stephanie Street in Burlington -- near the Rochester Fire Department for a report of a person assaulting his mother with a machete.

RACINE COUNTY -- A Racine County man was arrested after he stabbed his mother in the leg in the Village of Rochester Saturday, Aug. 18.It happened just before 6:30 p.m. near Ryan Avenue and Stephanie Street.According to the Racine County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the area for a report of an intoxicated man who went after his mother with a machete and stabbed her in the leg with a butterfly knife.The suspect left the house to sit in the backyard and was then arrested without incident.He was taken to the Racine County Jail and is being held on the following charges:

Motorcyclist taken to hospital via Flight for Life after crash in Racine County

RACINE -- A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital by Flight for Light late Thursday night, Aug. 16 following a crash in Racine County.It happened around shortly before 10 p.m. on CTH K, west of 108th Street, in the Town of Raymond.The driver of the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on CTH K when he went into the ditch, striking a traffic sign, and then going through an electric fence.

Illinois man arrested for 6th OWI offense on I-41 in Racine County

RACINE COUNTY -- A 42-year-old man from Grayslake, Illinois was arrested early Sunday morning, Aug. 12 for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 6th offense.The arrest happened shortly after 3:15 a.m. on northbound I-41 near Braun Road.According to the Racine County Sheriff's Office, deputies got calls of a suspect vehicle not staying in its lane and nearly striking the median wall.
