WAUKESHA COUNTY (WITI) -- He's a Waukesha County detective, whom co-workers have called "a hazard on the job" -- someone "who's been asleep at the wheel for more than a decade." So why does he still have a job?If you knew all of the things Detective Pete Korns admitted to doing, you might think he'd be in a lot of hot water.But after an internal investigation, he's back on the job -- a job some of his co-workers don't think he should have.Korns has been a Waukesha County detective for 26 years, but after a three-day suspension, he's now back on the job -- even though he admitted to violating numerous department rules, over and over again."There is literally a laundry list of different violations," Waukesha County Sheriff Dan Trawicki said.Hundreds of pages of documents released on Tuesday, June 3rd shed light on an internal investigation that started in 2012.That's when Korns' wife, Natasha, was caught burglarizing a neighbor's home.Investigators say she used her husband's lock pick kit to break into the home in the middle of the day.Since then, Korns' co-workers have caught him sleeping on the job and snoring, using his work computer for personal things, like accessing Craigslist more than 6,000 times and researching steroids.In January, he drove his squad car for two months without a valid driver's license -- and often left work early or was missing for "large chunks of time."Korns has been in trouble for not properly storing evidence.

WAUKESHA (WITI) -- Waukesha police say a 75-year-old man was killed on Thursday night, May 29th in an incident in which he was pinned underneath his vehicle.Police were dispatched to the area of Comanche Lane and Madison Street in Waukesha around 7:45 p.m.There, Waukesha Police and Fire Departments located the man pinned under his vehicle at the bottom of a hill.Life-saving efforts were unsuccessful -- and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.A Waukesha Police Accident Reconstruction Specialist was called to investigate the crash scene.The investigation is ongoing.Waukesha police say their early indications are this was a single-vehicle crash, where the victim was crushed by his own vehicle.Monitor FOX6 News and FOX6Now.com for updates on this story.

WAUKESHA (WITI) -- On Sunday, April 27th, HAWS, the Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County, welcomed nine members of the Junior Girl Scout Troop 2553 from Horizon Elementary, Pewaukee, as they completed their Bronze Award by installing a special new cat habitat at the shelter.The new cat habitat very much reflects the Troop members’ personalities: the Princess motif is complete with a kitty castle, throne room and luxury ‘meow motel.’“The girls were very excited to do a project for HAWS,” noted Troop Leader, Heather Gergen. “They utilized skills learned during their six years in Girls Scouts while gaining many new ones along the way including teamwork, brainstorming, project planning and management, research, budgeting, fundraising, securing material donations, construction, sewing and painting.”The Troop brainstormed and researched several projects before voting to work with HAWS to refurbish their cat habitat.
