Law enforcement incident temporarily shuts down EB I-94 at Moorland Rd.

WAUKESHA COUNTY (WITI) -- A law enforcement incident temporarily shut down the eastbound lanes of I-94 near Moorland Rd. on Thursday, December 18th. Police in Delafield responded to a retail theft at the Kohl's on Golf Road after 1 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

The shoplifting suspect left the store and got into a vehicle that initially pulled over, however pulled back into traffic and fled the stop prior to officers making contact with the suspect.

A high speed pursuit carried on down I-94 reaching 80-90 miles per hour speeds.

Brookfield police deployed a tire deflation device. The vehicle came to a stop west of Moorland Road due to the tire deflation device.

The retail theft suspect is a 22-year-old man from Milwaukee -- and the operator of the vehicle was a 31-year-old man also from Milwaukee. Both of these suspects were taken into custody and were booked at the Waukesha County Jail.

The lanes have since reopened.
