State of Emergency issued for parts of Kenosha County

KENOSHA COUNTY (WITI) -- Kenosha County Executive Jim Kreuser today (Thursday, April 18, 2013) declared a local state of emergency for parts of Kenosha County as a result of flooding.“Due to the recent heavy rains that have caused sporadic flooding throughout Kenosha County, a Local State of Emergency is in effect,” Kreuser said.The Emergency Declaration states:“The Fox River, which lies in Western Kenosha County, is currently at 13.19 feet.

Officials in Kenosha watching levee closely

KENOSHA (WITI) -- Rain over the past several days is causing issues in Kenosha -- where officials fear a levee that retains Vern Wolf Lake near the Bong Recreation Area could fail.This past summer, places like the Epper's Dairy Farm were in desperate need of water.

Kenosha police arrest armed robbery suspect

KENOSHA (WITI) -- Kenosha police have announced they have made an arrest following an armed robbery of a U.S. Bank branch on Tuesday, April 9th.The woman's identity has not yet been released as the investigation continues.Police say the armed robbery happened just before 9:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of 22nd Avenue.Dispatchers received information that the suspect in this robbery had fled on foot, westbound from the bank.The suspect is described as a white female, approximately 30 years of age, 5'8" tall, weighing 130 pounds with dark hair, wearing a blue hat, dark clothing and armed with a black handgun.

Kenosha police seeking armed bank robbery suspect

KENOSHA (WITI) -- Kenosha police officials are investigating an armed robbery that occurred on Tuesday, April 9th at a U.S. Bank branch.Police say it happened just before 9:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of 22nd Avenue.Dispatchers received information that the suspect in this robbery had fled on foot, westbound from the bank.The suspect is described as a white female, approximately 30 years of age, 5'8" tall, weighing 130 pounds with dark hair, wearing a blue hat, dark clothing and armed with a black handgun.Anyone who was in the area of this crime, or may have information, is requested to contact Kenosha Crime Stoppers at 262-656-7333, or Detective Arnold Pederson at 262-605-5278.

Three injured in two crashes on State Highway 31 early Sunday morning

KENOSHA (WITI) -- Three people were injured in a crash that occurred just before 2:30 a.m. Sunday, March 24th on WIS 31 at Old Green Bay Road near Kenosha.Officials say a Toytoa was headed west on Old Green Bay Road, while a GMC was headed north on State Highway 31.Officials say traffic traveling on Old Green Bay Road must yield to vehicles traveling on State Highway 31.The Toyota entered the northbound lanes of State Highway 31 and was struck on its drivers side by the front of the GMC.Both vehicles came to their final resting location in the southbound lanes of State Highway 31.Officials say the driver of the Toyota was transported via Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital with life-threatening injuries.The driver of the GMC was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.Officials say it is unclear at this time whether either driver was impaired at the time of the crash.A secondary crash occurred later, involving the GMC, Saturn and Chevrolet.Officials say the driver of the GMC had exited his vehicle, and the driver of the Chevrolet parked his vehicle near the northwest corner of the intersection, as a result of the initial crash.This individual was attempting to render aid to the driver of the GMC and Toyota.A Saturn traveling south on State Highway 31 struck the passenger side of the GMC, and the Saturn struck the Chevrolet during its post-impact movement.Officials say the driver of the Saturn was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.Officials do not know whether the driver of the Saturn was impaired at the time of the crash.This crash remains under investigation.

Kenosha police investigating stabbing of 29-year-old man

KENOSHA (WITI) -- Kenosha police are investigating a stabbing that occurred on Tuesday, March 19th just before 4:00 a.m. in the 6000 block of 18th Avenue.Police say a 29-year-old man suffered stab wounds to the chest area and was taken to the hospital for treatment.A 37-year-old female was taken into custody.Detectives will be forwarding a request for charges of First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety to the Kenosha County District Attorney's Office.

Kenosha officer cleared of any wrongdoing in taser incident

KENOSHA (WITI) -- Kenosha Police Chief John Morrissey says an officer who used a taser to control a man who he believed was ready to fight him "properly utilized the training provided to him."That officer was called to the scene of a fight in Kenosha in July 2012.

Man whose son was killed by police may team up with WPPA

KENOSHA (WITI) -- Michael Bell, whose son was killed by Kenosha police, may soon team up with the state's police union."I think it's important for the law enforcement review process to be trusted by citizens in the community," said Michael Bell in an interview with FOX6 News on Friday, February 8th.After Kenosha police killed his son in 2004, Bell called for the creation of a statewide review board that would look at all police shootings and in-custody deaths.
