Washington, Illinois residents pick up the pieces after tornado

(WITI) -- Washington, Illinois residents whose homes were destroyed by Sunday's severe weather on Tuesday, November 20th got their first close-up look at the damage.The residents of Washington, Illinois were among the hardest-hit by Sunday's storms.A tornado ripped through the town of about 10,000, causing serious damage to or destroying as many as 400 homes.All of that destruction has taken a heavy toll on the community.FOX6's Jeremy Ross met with Washington residents Tuesday trying to collect any belongings they could find.Meanwhile, in Illinois, Indiana and Michigan, at lease 600,000 still didn't have power on Monday.Officials have said eight people died in the storms, including six in Illinois and two in Michigan.Donations are being accepted by the American Red Cross.
