NEW YORK -- A New York City police officer saved a woman choking on a throat lozenge -- and the dramatic rescue on a busy Bronx highway was captured on the officer's dash cam.The video shows Highway Patrol Police Officer Gregory Zakoscielny following a car that slows down and stops in the right hand lane on the Bronx River Parkway Wednesday afternoon.The NYPD, which posted the video on its Facebook page Friday, says Zakoscielny got out of his vehicle and immediately noticed the driver, a 49-year-old woman, was having difficulty breathing and holding her throat.Zakoscielny instructs the woman to put her hands on her chest.

Biker who swung helmet in SUV attack 'overreacted' but didn't beat driver, lawyer says
NEW YORK (CNN) -- A 29-year-old motorcyclist has been arrested in connection with the beating of an SUV driver in New York last week, a spokesman for the New York Police Department said Monday.Craig Wright is expected to face charges of gang assault and related charges in the beating of driver Alexian Lien on September 29, police said.Wright, of Brooklyn, is seen on a video "punching through the window of the SUV and kicking (Lien) twice," the spokesman said.

NEW YORK (WITI) -- A Wisconsin woman is accused of trying to bring a loaded gun into the 9/11 memorial in New York on Sunday, September 22nd.41-year-old Ursula Jerry was stopped while trying to pass through a screening.A loaded pistol was apparently found in her bag.FOX6 News is told Jerry has a permit to carry the gun in Wisconsin, but not in New York.Jerry is being charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

New York-size sodas get green light from appeals court
(CNN) -- New York restaurants can continue selling large sugary drinks after an appeals court sided Tuesday with a lower court ruling that found the city's restrictions on such beverages to be "arbitrary and capricious."The Supreme Court's Appellate Division found that the city's Board of Health "failed to act within the bounds of its lawfully delegated authority" when it moved to ban sugary drinks of more than 16 ounces in New York City restaurants, movie theaters, and other food service establishments.The court declared the regulation to be a violation of the principle of separation of powers doctrine.The doctrine establishes the boundaries between the legislature and an administrative agency.

Workers rescued from high above New York streets
NEW YORK (CNN) -- Two workers were rescued more than 550 feet above the streets of midtown Manhattan on Wednesday afternoon after their scaffolding buckled near the top of the Hearst Tower, the New York Fire Department said.The agency's chief of special operations told CNN the workers, who spent 90 minutes dangling near the top of the building, suffered "no immediate medical incidents."William Seelig said firefighters cut through a double-paned window on the 45th floor and brought the workers in through the newly created hole.It took about 30 minutes for authorities to cut through the glass and send a firefighter onto the scaffolding to assist the workers.Moses Neslon, a paramedic who attended to the men, said one was in his 20s and the other was in his 40s.
